The game is more of a time sink than Tenet, but it’s incredible.
What is tenet?
You need to look at some media outside of fromsoft mate wink
Haha - I'll take that.

I don't do facebook, twitter or instagram. Youtube a plenty and that's my lot.

Cheers

On reflection and re-read I feel I need to be more clear that I stay on Torrent all of the time if possible. Where I said you need to get on torrent after the giant rolls, all going well you are still on torrent anyway, so even faster to run after him and press circle to throttle on! Good luck and look fwd to update on VICTORY.
YEEEEEESSSS! After a week of trying…. Fire Giant is now toast. Took your advice and stayed on Torrent, after first spending ages in a dungeon to find a summoning bell to get glovewort to level up Black Night Tiche to +10 to be more of a help, also used a Great Rune, then brought it all together to just get in close and behind (…..) and hacked away at that ankle. And down he went smile

Many thanks for all advice - onward I travel….

Revel in your glory :-). I just pointed you in the right direction. Keep the updates coming.

+10 Tiche is just a fantastic spirit ashes. +10 Dung Eater (though a pain in the butt to get) is also fantastic.

Creamed Radahn a couple of days ago. Today came up against Valiant Gargoyle, WTAF!!! Resorted to YouTube to help, to my dismay found a second one joins in! Jeez.

Currently wandering round some unexplored areas around Altus Plateau, and will return. Plenty to go at yet.

Not looking forward to the Fire Giant battle, but that's miles off for me. 52 hours and counting.

The fight against the gargoyles isn't too bad. Clearly the first time that you can get down to them, you're probably not supposed to be able to beat them. However in late mid-game or endgame you should be able to cream them. Even when both gargoyles are active they never really try to bumrush you, rather they take turns to attack. In many ways you can treat it as just a solo fight with a sudden HP boost. Just figure out which of their weapons are most tricky for you to deal with and stay out of the way whilst they're using those.

Oh. My. Days.

Maliketh - ouch. He is one Big Bad. Totally destroyed my Black Knife Tiche +10….then made mincemeat of me. That was sobering.

Strangely I didn't find him that big of a deal. I beat him in my first couple of goes on both play throughs.

For me, the enemy that is waiting just before the entrance to his fight was a much bigger pain in the butt.

You can definitely get Maliketh. Stick at it! :-)

Yep, I dealt with the guy on the horse by preparing myself well, getting my very best weapons primed, flasks at the ready…..and legged it straight past him smile

Oddly, I almost beat Maliketh first go, but then he’s pummelled me every time since then. Today though, he’s going down.

Aaaand…..I’m getting nowhere with Maliketh. Phase 2 is insane. If he gets you once, there’s 2 more hits coming fast. He’s utterly relentless - my Mimic Tear or Black Knife Tiche help, but it’s not enough. So close to the end of the game…need to get there!

If you beat the patrolling Sentinel outside first (though currently can’t beat him either) does that allow an NPC Summon for the Maliketh fight?

Reckon I need to go back and try Commander Niall in Castle Sol, get the medallion, get to Consec.Snowfields and find more somber dragon stones to upgrade my weapons. Am thinking the upgraded Starscourge Greatsword might be worth a try.

All this for one poxy boss - aarghhh

Maliketh is pretty easy, as noted that knight on the steps outside will give you a much tougher run for your money. The key is to dodge his attacks and counter only when you can hit safely.

Completed it yesterday. Had issues with some of the bosses mentioned on here, but not all :

Fire Giant : He did kill me quite a few times, but still not actually sure how I defeated him. On that run through, I'd used a rock for a bit of cover on the first half (magic based build) and when the second half started, I was suddenly out in the open. Decided the first thing I should do is find some cover again.
Not sure what the hell she did, but on this try Tiche annihilated him before I even reached cover!

Malenia : Took many attempts. Kept a bit more distance on the successful attempt - I was pretty good at blocking her spinning attack by then too (still did damage, but didn't usually kill me).

Maliketh : Thought he would be a problem (I'd previously seen a video of Malenia fighting each boss one by one, and very few did as well as he did). But in fact, first try was a success (lots of cover from the pillars).

Most of the end bosses were not too bad, but the final one was a pain. I died quite a lot yesterday!

I covered a lot but I suspect there is at least a few places I missed. Found Deeproot Depths the other day which I'd missed before. I know that there's at least one dungeon / tomb I aborted because it was full of poison, and I really couldn't be bothered - might try and find it before moving on to NG+.

I don't usually use the PS4 in the summer anyway, so NG+ is probably a few months away.

Best From Soft game so far though. Loved Demon / Dark Souls, wasn't entirely convinced by Bloodborne (although I did finish it) and hated Sekiro - which I've started and given up on multiple times.

You played Elden Ring on the PS4? You are the first person I have known to do it. Was the general play experience good?

As for other souls games. I installed Bloodborne after my second play through of Elden Ring and am about 3/4 the way through. IMO Bloodborne has the best overall environment. The deep vampire/gothic look is just so atmospheric. Love it.

I’m on PS4 too. No issues. Though unlike others, I continue to get my ar*e handed to me on a plate by both the patrolling draconian sentinel and (when I run past him) Maliketh. I’ve now got white mask, rivers of blood and lord of blood exultation but they’re not giving enough damage; giant-crusher +25 hammer is probably taking me closest to beating the sentinel, but it’s such a slow weapon to wield. Really have to beat them both and finish this thing before it turns into a chore.

Btw when you use up all the larval tears is that it or can they be purchased? Are more available on NG+ ?

Good stuff. Stick with it.

As for Larval tears, I have never re-specced any character I have used in any souls game. I just haven't seen the need. Without sounding typical.... I just bashed my face against the issue till I eventually learned.

I'd completed bloodborne around 5 times but never had the energy to beat two of the DLC bosses when I finally got to them, Lawrence The First Vicar and Orphan of Kos but today, nearly 7 years after buying Bloodborne, I smashed them both back to back only 15 mins apart. Victory!

A productive weekend…. finally bested Maliketh. I didn’t find him easy at all, but the Mimic Tear plus Bloodhound Step on my Claymore finally…finally….saw him go down, after about 2 weeks of impasse. Naturally the first thing I did was shoot that hateful patrolling Sentinel outside with poison arrows ‘till that sucker dropped too ;P

[SPOILER ALERT]

Must say, I found Gideon fairly straightforward then Godfrey tough at first, but Bloodhound Step to the rescue - it’s an absolute must for melee builds, I’d say.

But…I can just about get past Radagan half the time….but that leaves me down on everything and so exposed to the Elden Beast, despite tons of holy damage negation armour. If I can’t get past thing one last hurdle….aaaaarrgghhh

Your spirit ashes should take most of the heat from Radagan and you can just smash him up. It takes a while to time the dodge/jump to his ground strike but you get it after a while. My second character was a Faith build and I used a black fire bolt on Radagan as Tiche was toe to toe with him. Worked well to get me through to Elden Beast with most of my health. If you can get to Elden with Tiche still in one piece that definitely helps divert some of the Elden Beast magic attacks away from you as central focus.

I never used Bloodhound step on my melee build. Just timed my iframes but I am sure it would have helped.

I’m at a bit of a crossroads. 40 hours in, not used google or any guides but I think that I am missing out now in terms of I don’t know what my setup should be or the best items. Feels like cheating a bit but I’m a bit stuck.
