Hi All,

Following last months win in the competition, this months theme will be 'Landmarks & Famous Places'

Appreciate it's rather tough at the moment to get out and about but I'm sure we'll get some great entries.

Good Luck,

Dougie.

Rules:

The photos taken must be your own work and can be taken at anytime, but please only get out with your gear if you have safe opportunity etc.

The competition will run from the first to the last day of the month.

You can only submit one, and only one photo.

The winner from the previous month decides on the topic for the following month and judges it at the end of the month.

Entries and discussion on this single thread please.

All entrants acknowledge that they may indeed win and that their adherence to convention ensures everyone else's continued fun.

Photos entered can be as large as you like, although bear in mind if too large, it may not be possible to see the whole image on some screens. Links to larger versions are permissible.

Having been lucky enough to travel to many places on holiday, and being 'stuck' in many others on work with nothing better to do in the evenings than wander out and about taking pictures I have a large selection in this category. Which makes it painfully hard to pick one! So gone with simple on the basis that there's so little in it, but it's famously recognisable.

I took this about 20 years ago, on my first digital camera - no idea of settings, I've got the original file somewhere - except I opted for moody black and white, which suits the building and the atmosphere around it. I've trimmed the edges to get a better framing...

Edit: Have realised some might not recognise it from this angle - it the A Bomb Dome at Hiroshima

A different angle to the usual Forth Bridge shots you normally see.

Edited to add: you can’t get the bridge properly lined up as you run out of platform to stand on. Annoying!

If I was only ever allowed to choose just one place in the world that I had already visited, to walk and take photographs until the day I died, it would be here;

Flat Iron Building in New York. This was taken in 2012 on my Sony NEX 5. Shot in JPG and this is how it came out of the camera.

I was born in Hull, but moved to the Midlands aged five. On my many trips back to Hull to visit family, I eagerly watched the building of the Humber Bridge, which started when I was just eleven years old.

I was twenty years old by the time it was completed, but I always wanted to stand directly under the north tower, looking south. Fast-forward another 36 years and I finally got the photo that had been in my head for all those years
