Not the sharpest of photos, but here's a Jackdaw mocking my attempt at Jackdaw proofing the fatball feeder...

I couldn't believe how vicious swans were - these two males were fighting to the death, the one with the darker neck feathers had its head held under the water until it drowned.

The surviving male then went after its mate and her four cygnets.

Quite possibly the easiest bird to capture, as long as they're not flying. biggrin

My first shots with my new camera and lens, it's amazing what you can attract with human consumption quality peanuts and your own fat balls. (no sniggering at the back) this is through glass

These two visit half a dozen times a day for a good feed:

Fairly mundane sparrow. I'm posting this first as, like many others on the thread, I'm having Jackdaw issues. You'll see the progression of my attempts to stop the blighters raiding the feeder. This was mk1 = remove the metal perches, it didn't work they flap/hovered, took a beak full, then sat on top of the fence and selected the seeds they liked, and came back for more, much, much more.

Another mundane Sparrow and something a little more unusual for my garden. I know it's a tit, anyone know if its marsh/coal or something else? Fast little bugger, never in one place for long. Set the camera to rapid shot, and this is about the sharpest I got it.

This also represents mark II in the ongoing battle to stop Jackdaws, take two hanging baskets, and cable tie them around the feeder. This was moderately successful, until they figured out they could just hang sideways and poke a beak in, one was even slim enough to slip through at an angle.

Not the best shots, but my closest encounter yet with a Kingfisher........very early morning, with low light and mist still rising from the lake, so shot at 1/40th!

Now have the hide in place, so hoping to get some 'daytime' shots in the coming days.
