not so sure Team BladderSpeed came out so well wink

I always thought it was 'Ecurie Prenez-Vous-la-Piste' that our Henri formed back in 1989.
Ah, les femmes d'aujourdhui! .........the downfall of so many great teams.

Nice one Phillpot, & nice work both your's & Alan's ARB's. thumbup

Edit: Please excuse my French biggrin

Hello Mike,

Topic resurrection ;-) I am thinking of doing this upgrade on my S. Can you share some more info on the parts you used and how/if it improved the handling of your S ?

Thanks, Han

That's more like it Han.
Forget the idea of replacing your S with a Chim, just pinch bits off one wink

Alan's ARB mounted in the upper position looks better geometrically , but access to fit it would be a lot more difficult with the body on I guess. scratchchin

Funnily enough I was under the car last Saturday fitting some "improved" mounting brackets and that's when I noticed a petrol leak (see scrap tank thread).

At work at the mo but will do bit more info and pictures asap (maybe weekend before I can take photo's)

Thanks already, no hurry. Still making my mind up if I keep the S...or not.

Exactly my first reaction Paul.
Surely young Han ( not Solo ) could not be tempted to leave the S-forSe ?
The lure of the Dark Side seems to be very strong at the moment.

Maybe its the Dark Side of Wintertime. Does a Griff also belong to the Dark Side ?

Don't know about the "Dark Side"... more likely to belong to the "Back Side" of a S Tour convoy with L.i.am in his Chimaera and Stew in his Griff hehe

Anti roll bar and mountimg brackets are ex-Chimeara (i did have to bend it a bit), once I was fairly sure it was going to fit I bought new silicone bushes.
The brackets on the chassis it attaches to are home made and also made some cut outs in the chassis to lift it up a bit, still had to modify the silencer a bit for it to clear.
Making those cut outs gave me access to inside the chassis to mount some strengthening plates with captive nuts to bolt the brackets onto. The cap heads that look like they don't do anything are holding those plates in place so the brackets can be removed if I need to without the plates inside falling away and being "lost".

Drop links are made up from readily available spherical joints, I stuck with 1/2" unf same as my front ones. Where they attach to trailing arms there are strengthening plates behind, again with captive nuts, the small 10mm bolts hold those plates in place. Despite someones earlier concerns there is no sign of any distortion or flexing.

I think that's about it, has it made any difference? I think so, car feels as though it more "planted", back end doesn't seem to tuck down when "pushing on" around longer bends (or large roundabouts).

Hope that wasn't too boring, few more pictures.............

Ian, you know full well that if Phillpot had a new chassis, it would be stainless. wink
( perhaps it is & he's just painted it red to throw us off the scent ? )

It does look damn good though. thumbup

Hello Mike,

Thanks for sharing, VERY interesting to read !! Pictures make it all clear.
Didn't expect you had to cut the chassis. Looks like major surgery to me.

Before doing this mod, I think I will have the standard suspension bits checked/improved.

Cheers, Han
