I think it means yours was built just before SDLDSN2P3MF011471

But knowing TVR's logic that's not necessarily the case wink

We are a helpful and friendly forum, but expect a bit of good-hearted humour from some of our erstwhile experts..

Photos of the car are always a good intro if you're new..

rofl they asked for that. You'll do well on here..... (sorry, can't shed any light on the chassis query, but love the humour. Don't be put off and enjoy the car!)

Click on V8S / S4 Owners list at the top of the S Series headings page and scroll down to this section:

From the information you have supplied, I would guess that your S3 was manufactured in the latter half of 1991, being the 470th TVR recorded as being built at Blackpool that year.
It was registered as a 290S on 12 Sept 1991, is green in colour and has a current MoT valid until 21st June 2018.

Recorded mileage on 21st June 2017 was 100,394

It had slight play in the steering rack inner joints ( Kiley Clinton are the best firm for overhauling this ).
It had a bit of an oil leak from somewhere.
It had surface corrosion on the underbody.

That all sounds about par for the course for an S. smile

If there's anything else you'd like to know, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hope to see you at S Club Heaven at Bywell, Northumbria on 1st July 2018

Please make good use of this forum and join the TVR Car Club if you haven't already done so.

There is lots of handy information on here on "Useful Links" and our Events Wiki and other stuff.

Welcome aboard! thumbup

Edit:
Andy,
I see from your profile that you are based in Greater Manchester.
Our next Club night is next Tuesday 12th Dec at the Windmill, Tabley, WA16 0HW from 7:30pm
It's just off the roundabout at J19 of the M6.
You'll be made most welcome, with or without your TVR. There will be a light-hearted quiz night and we are doing a Secret Santa thing where everyone brings a wrapped gift of around a fiver in value and each person is allocated one of these gifts at random before we leave.
Usually well attended, lots of partners come along as well.
Very informal and friendly.

Hope to see you there.
