I’m looking for a bit of help before I start off on the wrong foot.

Firstly, if anyone regularly arranges car meets in the North East I’d love to hear about them to see what they include and what area they cover.

If as I expect, there are no meets for all types in the North East then I’m after some information to help me before I go in both feet first.

If anyone has arranged them in the past or has ever looked into it, I’m keen to hear about any tips you may have, good or bad.

For anyone that hasn’t, what would you like to ideally have included or avoided?

I’d stress that this will in all likelihood be targeted at everyone but I’m eager to ensure it doesn’t develop into 90s cruise esque. I believe there’s a gap for this in the area if it was a monthly or every other month meet. Possibly a Sunday morning but that’s not determined until we arrange a suitable venue.

Many thanks

Best bet is to sift through or arrange something in this area^

My wife & I used to run a monthly NEPH meet at Shaftos, Spennymoor (Whitworth Hall Hotel & Deer Park) with four or five road runs per year. It ran for a six years starting around 2003 and then fizzled away.

The local community appears not to want this any more, many many times I have watched NEPHers try to organise something but their efforts always dry up before the event has time to happen. Great shame but if people don't want it there's very little anyone can do about that

Thanks, I did originally post in there but the thread was moved into here. I had a good look through and there’s talk of a 2020 meet but these seem to be a one off.

Quite honestly that’s what I expected I’d find. I’m hoping that by making it a bi-monthly meeting we can remove the feeing that they’re too often.

Alright. Recently driving back from Brighton and a meet in Farnborough, I turned to our lass and asked, "why isn't there meets back home anymore?" (Obviously north east, I'm from Durham). While I was down there I was spoiled for choice for meets to go to, I know it's the business end of the country and is always going to have meets left right and centre, but up here there's nowt really, even though there's plenty of quality cars and enthusiasts up here, shame really.

It would be good to get out somewhere this spring. Used to meet in the NW where I hail from and made some good mates over the years.

I see there’s been a run out to the Boat Shack at Derwent today. Don’t know whether it was a club thing or just a group of mates, but some interesting motors there nevertheless. Maybe we could look at something like that. Hartside was always good, but a lack of cafe doesn’t make it as appealing now.

A few Aston drivers have the occasional Sunday morning run out.

Usually two or three hours starting at 9.00am from Heddon On The Wall. Quite often we take in the Hartside Pass. The cafe may have been knocked down but there is a burger van there at weekends. If the weather is too inclement there is a lovely little cafe in the next village.

The next time we plan a run we will post here as well.

I’ve signed up tonight. Notwithstanding my car qualifies for membership, I’m not sure it’s of the same calibre as many of the event goers!

I’ll see what comes up though and say hello at some point. smile

Excellent.

I've got nothing special but I do the photos for them. Join the facebook group as well if you haven't already.

We are planning a runout this Sunday. Meet points Washington Services Northbound at 8.30am and Heddon on the Wall at 9.00am.

Keen to know which village your designated cafe of choice is (or which it is), I do love the route through Hartside Pass. Haven't done it in months.

If I get the TVR back for Sunday I may well make myself available.

Nothing is set in stone but we have stopped at a cafe in Melmerby on past runs.

We will finalise the route on Sunday morning.

Your input will be welcome.

If it's the one attached to the Village shop, a sausage roll followed by a piece of millionaire's shortbread is the way to go!

I've had nothing on for weeks, but this weekend the in laws are over... marvellous! If I can sneak out early doors, I'll head over to Washington. smile

You’ll be back by lunchtime and your giving your partner the gift of quality time alone with their parents.
