Can anyone help me?

Yesterday I was travelling southbound on the A1 when what I believe was a black Vauxhall’s Astra performed a crazy overtake heading northbound which resulting in it hitting me, causing me to fishtail up the road resulting in considerable damage to my car after hitting trees or a wall at the side of the road. This vehicle failed to stop and so I have nobody to claim against for the insurance repairs.

This happened just around the junction of the A1 and the B6345 to Amble.

Sadly my dashcam doesn’t give me a registration number due to the weather conditions. Does anybody who may have seen this incident or previous / later incidents, have dashcam footage they could provide to help to establish the driver of the vehicle that hit me? Any help much appreciated.

The time stamp of my Video (Hopefully at the top of this thread) is an hour out due to it being set to GMT and not British summertime. It happened at 07.36 am.

Thanks in advance
Ross

Perhaps the Big Brother spycam shown here could be persuaded to yield some clues, should Big Brother be willing and able?

(Is it merely a traffic flow monitor, though, that does not record / retain useful data)?

Nobody likes to see this sort of idiotic driving let alone being involved in a collision due to it. I can't help you witness wise but can hopefully offer some advice.

Have you reported it to police and your insurers to comply with your legal responsibilities. Let them investigate no matter how much you think they'll get nowhere!

As well as asking around yourself as you're doing here, get it out on any social media you know of. I think you're better off also asking to identify the HGV - it's fairly distinctive livery and could well have better dashcam footage and a witness to the overtaking.

It appears you're also concerned re claiming for the damage. Are you aware of MIB? They are set up to help in situations like this. https://www.mib.org.uk

Good luck!

Good idea. I can't make out the name, but the bleu/yellow stripes on the cab should be pretty distinctive.
