I've been a couple of times since they started to charge, the nail in the coffin for me was the lack of a full english! That was the best part about the meet a good breakfast and a lot of cars. I'd rather go to a local meet for free and have a coffee than drive an hour of the A303 pay £5 and have a bacon bap.
Other companies have started to pop up offering cars and coffee or evening meats with food etc that are looking a lot more attractive, especially for themed gatherings.
Is the lack of full english a permanent thing or was it a one off?Other companies have started to pop up offering cars and coffee or evening meats with food etc that are looking a lot more attractive, especially for themed gatherings.
This coming Sunday @ Cross Hands (Old Sodbury)
Cheers

Our regular monthly get together at this great venue, every 4th Sunday of the month for every kind of classic, historic or interesting car, van, truck & bike or anything with an engine or two.
The Cross Hands is a well know sight on the A46 at Old Sodbury (everyone seems to know the Queen was stranded there once) with a large car park and a bar and restaurant which is open from 7am. If you would like a full sit down breakfast then you need to book direct with the Cross Hands, here: https://www.greeneking-pubs.co.uk/.../cross-hands-... or call 01454 313000. There will be no walk in tables available. However, the Corss Hands is also laying on bacon, sausage or veggie rolls and a cup of tea or coffee for £6 cash. No booking required, so a big thanks to them for putting this on specially for us - please support them by eating as much as possible....
All older vehicles are welcome but this is not for those who like revving their engines or doing burn outs. Anyone doing so will be asked to leave. Also please note when leaving the car park you MUST turn left initially as it is a one way road. To get back to the A46 you go a few yards up the hill and take the right hand fork which loops you back down to the A46. The police may be keeping an eye on this, so be aware.
Cheers

We were told it's permanent as they no longer offer cooked food and don't open until 10.30 on a breakfast club day. We were a bit miffed as we got there early as the breakfast queue used to be out the door and none of us had eaten. They must have made a killing before, makes no business sense

The fiver is irrelevant. I spend more on petrol getting there and the breakfast. I'm happy to support the venues with a bit of cash. But only being able to get a bacon sarnie was disappointing, as was not being to go inside (the march meet was freezing.) I was unhappy to find that only a tiny portaloo was open and disgusted to find that it didn't have running water in the hand basin,
If they're going to charge a fiver, working plumbing (see "what did the romans ever do for us?") is the minimum I expect in return.
I won't be hurrying back, but I suspect that may be their goal.

If the weather is ok, I’ll take the Griff. Otherwise Volvo. Few of us planning to go, hopefully my mate’s 928 will be out post work.
Ahh nice, I think I am just going to take the Z4 regardless and will be going along with a few others, e92 M3, E61 M5 or Charger Hellcat and possibly 981 GT4. Not been for so long and seeing some of the recent posts, not sure I am going to enjoy it as much this time around. Seems like a lot of changes!

Know what you mean having missed a few months. However went in the drizzle last month and really enjoyed it again. Ended up chatting to owners of the more unusual (less expensive) classics rather than the moderns. Fingers crossed re weather.
My first time for a few months, I think the iffy looking weather actually helped a bit as the place wasn't overwhelmed.
The pre-boking system means it's fine to rock up about 9am now as you know there is space etc.
Good to meet a couple of fellow PHer's as well!
Quite a good turn out, (how often do you see a Rapide or original Alpine in the wild?!) - I didn't actually get as far as the British Paddock because I had to leave a little early.

Thanks for the photos. Obviously you 'shot' what caught your eye/attention but there seemed to be so few 'old' cars.
The oldest being the red Morris Minor van. And then the very nice Alpine.
Pity.
It would be good if Haynes went back to the short lived 'vintage and classics' and separate 'future classics' two events per month.

There was a good mix there - but I literally just hurried up and down one lane, so the lack of diversity isn't as bad as my pics suggest Thanks for the photos. Obviously you 'shot' what caught your eye/attention but there seemed to be so few 'old' cars.

Also another thank you for the photos, I took my camera but after a full week of it, motivation to get a camera out in my own time is somewhat lacking!
