Went for food on Whiteladies Road at about 3pm today.

Lovely, apart from all the complete pr*cks in a selection of chav mobiles who decided the first sun of the year wasn't for hanging out with friends but driving really really fast in a shiny car on a busy main street.

I would say

1 in 4 cars were convertibles: mx5s, z4s, many 3-series, 996 cabriolets
1 in 8 cars had loud music playing
Most of the rest were basic Lagunas/A4s/3-series with big aftermarket alloys, full of people wanting to be looked at

I don't get it.. does putting wheels on your car and playing loud music mean you can drive around expecting people to look at you with the same respect you would if Mozart walked into your Classical Music Appreciation Society AGM?

I thought a cruise was happening, but no, just lots of sad people were let out the house by their parents.

Prize to the pr*ck in a diesel Mark4 golf doing a huge wheelspin away from a zebra crossing. Why?

Prize to the idiot in a horrendous yellow E36 3-series with vents and slats everywhere and subwoofers in the rear seats, and exhaust so it sounded like a buzz-saw cutting through metal.

Fortunately the day was saved seeing an SL55 AMG, top down, cruising really slowly, old chap at the wheel, and hearing a slow, low burble as it pulled away over the top of all the 7000 rpm-in-1st-gear 911s and bmws.

rant over. sorry.

Ah... the mistake you're making is thinking that Whiteladies Road is intended for getting from Blackboy Hill to Queens Road.

In fact there's an ancient bylaw that makes it compulsory to trundle up & down in front of the bars & restaurants attempting to look cool. I'm suprised you weren't picked up on this and fined for not having audio equipment designed to make your ears bleed...

You should come down to Weston-super-Mare when the sun is out then, it's chaos!

I just parked the car, sat on the lawns with my mate and  at the Lax Poower brigade!

Ahh bless them! They're just proud of their cars...

Why not take that Tuscan of yourn, and drop in at the McD's by Blockbuster? There's always a few of them in there. A fine opportunity to show them what a real car looks and sounds like

I'd just like to point out if ever I am seen driving twice within 10 minutes on that stretch of road, it's because I'm trying to find a parking space.

...and usually not in what might be considered to be the "pose-mobile"

I took the Tuscan around to an old Friend's house last night to show him that his R32, is still a bit of a skateboard in comparison to what else is out there (apologies to any R32 owners! )

He took it out for a spin... he's booked a weekend in a couple of months!... ... and he was asking me what I reckon he could get for his car is he sold it!

Result! another convert!
