As you know Jess, I think I've been twice to the Greater Manchester meetings, 'cos it seems to be the norm. I much prefer the West Lancs meetings, and the PH Romper meetings.

Jess, I know what you mean. But only in the sense that people didn't come up and welcome us . It seems they leave it to the new visitors to introduce themselves. I think this is wrong, as it is not as if we are going to turn up in minibuses and just hang around the car park is it!

Seriously though, I would expect any regulars to approach new people very quickly after their arrival. Regulars know who each other are and can spot a newbie easily, (especially the RO). I must admit I approached a couple of them with Gav, and they were perfectly decent chaps to talk to. Did you approach any of them and have a less than satisfactory experience?

Romper meets have been damn good and will get better still. Might try W Lancs sometime but it is quite a distance. What am I saying! Surely that is better - more enjoyable drive

I do agree that it was a bit weird on Tuesday.
Members were not very "forthcoming"!
Rich and I did speak to a few blokes who were very friendly but we did make a lot of effort.
It was a bit like a first day at school!
To be fair I thought it was a bit s**t, Romper meets have been much better ,although there were a lot of TVR's which is always a bonus.
Hopefully Sunday at Bolton Abbey will be good, taking my other half, and if it is anything like Tuesday I think she may start to think I'm a weirdo!!
Anyway see you all soon

Congrats to l'il pugs on the birth of the little'un

Yeah, I think we spoke to the Head Teachers!

Yes there was a decent variety of Tivs which were all very shiny indeed. Hope there not all fair weather people.....

Having said that, if it is chucking it down on Sunday I may not go - I don't want my feet to be swimming in the footwell. Also I think I broke my big toe (left) playing football last night. Might just have to drive in third all the time
When your other half meets me, she WILL think you are a weirdo

"Congrats to l'il pugs on the birth of the little'un "

Woohoo, well done to Mrs L'il Pugs! Details please - sex, weight, name? Hope mother and baby are well. I'm sure we'll see the relief on your face exhibited through your driving.....

Hi guys. I'm a longstanding(ish) member of the Cheshire/Manchester/Mersey TVRCC group. I used to live around the corner from there before moving to West Yorkshire. I still go to meetings these as often as I can because we've made some really good friends there.

I should be coming to Bolten Abbey on Sunday with the Tuscan and possibly a new 350Z - so please say hello to me if you see me near the car and therefore can identify me. There are a few of us going from the region so I can make some introductions.

The region has quite alot of members with a wide mix of interests. Some are very much into trackdays, some into restoring classics, some into new stuff. There are normally some good events in the year when we join up with Blackpool and West Lancashire for runs out, Tatton Show etc etc. Come and find me and I'll explain more.

On a slightly separate point, has the Swan with Two Nicks had a change of ownership/chef since the end of last year?

Tuesday night's food was appalling for the price of it, the smell from the drains was disgusting....and then we all seemed to get plunged into darkness as they turned the lights off sometime after ten!

Right let me put the record straight..

I am in no way insulting the RO or my many new friends at the Cheshire meet..They are a good bunch...overall.

To what I was referring to in this thread was the change of proprieter at our local meeting place..Who doesn't appear to be making us very welcome.....

switching lights off at 10 and telling us where we can and can't stand.

Apologies Steve..

I agree Jessica the welcome was positively frosty from the bar staff. I would have thought that the presence of a reasonably large number of people buying drinks, on what would be a quiet night, would have warmed the heart of any landlord.

Oops!

I see what you mean about the pub. But obviously, having not been there before, I don't know of any difference between the way the region used to be treated; recent change of landlord or not.

IMHO The car park pot holes could do with filling in and an improvement in lighting wouldn't go amiss. It's no good when you cannot see all those fantastic cars. After all, that's half the reason for being there. The other half being the owners themselves. Who knows, maybe the region will reassess this as a venue in the future?

It's disappointing to hear about the food, because I had heard through other circles that The Swan was meant to be a place of high repute.

TUS373, hope to see you and other North Westerners at Bolton Abbey. I have a Halcyon Atlantis Chim 450.

Hope to see you soon anyway

No need to make excuses.

I turned up in a turquoise Jeep once and no one batted an eyelid...

Mind you, I don't suppose many TVR drivers would risk fluttering their eyelids at a bloke who turned up in a Big Gay Jeep.

I have no room to talk as over the years I must have turned up to 50% of the club meetings in a SAAB, much to Andy Gorners disgust........... but it does mean my other half is driving and I may just have a beer or three

Richard,

What's wrong with Saabs then? ( I can tell you what is wrong with mine in particular!).

With your experience of them, you'll have to show me how to crank the turbo up for 200 bhp.

Hi Bryan,

nice to talk to you again, are you going to back home at all?

nothings wrong with SAAB's in my opinion.

As for cheap tuning MAPTUN is the answer for modern saabs, nearest dealer APL saab in Kirkham (I can supply address and phone number if you are interested) for £600 they can take a standard 150bhp 2.0 turbo to 225bhp!!
