Sisters house got ransacked last night, they cut the kitchen window out, crept in over the sink, took loads of stuff inside the house then made off with the exgtt shed Yaris pool car parked outside (about £300 quids worth of Yaris) Brother in law has a new ish Passat sport that they didn't find the keys for, they took the Yaris anyway.

I know Calverley is a burgle hot spot but if you are local, please be vigilant. These bds are pros, they cut the kitchen window out, stole goods and drove the car away without anyone waking up or nexts doors dogs barking.

I've lived in Calverley for 18 years, it's pretty bad the moment but you're always gonna get the "nasties" doing the better places over, visible deterrents don't deter brazen criminals if they want something they'll get it by any means.

Lived there from around 1987 to 1997, never burgled but often heard of it and were always on edge. Lost count the number of times we had people eyeing up the house, including 3 blokes looking through the windows at 3am.

Glad to be out of there, lovely though the house was.

Always felt the area was at the epicentre of a lot of scummy areas.

Lived there for 4 years. We were in a short, dead end road with no real exit other than the way you come in, which I think made us less attractive to burgle. Having said that, plenty of neighbours with VAG group cars had their satnav units nicked (some 2 or 3 times) and crime was a running issue. That's the price of the village being right next to a sthole estate, with Calverley having plenty of exits out into the ether if you're being chased.

Hmmm, this is a tad disconcerting to read, I live there also & only been home for 1 day in the last 3 weeks, never realized it was a hot spot.
