You really can’t compare the semi in Ramsey Avenue. It’s half the size and nowhere near as good outside space. At the end of the day, it is what it is.
Add a second story extension and you'll be quids in!

It's now STC - you?
No, I was outbid by some London money who offered “well over” the asking price.

Wowser.
I bet it'll be developed into a larger house.

Good luck with the ongoing search!

There is a field near there that is going to be developed. 1 large house I think. Not on planning portal yet though.

One large house is nothing, unless I’m missing something.

Sorry to see it didn't work out with either of those options.

It's worth considering the close North West of York. Looking at that house in Bishopthorpe, you don't get a lot of house for the money in comparison.

These aren't especially breathtaking, but gives an idea of the sqft/£ ratio

Just a little update....

The guy from London had to pull out so after another viewing I had my offer accepted on the Bishopthorpe property.

We love our village though we are about to move. It is Bolton Percy and actually there is a fabulous house that is for sale in your range. This and others in the area (Colton, Appleton Roebuck, Bilbrough) are great smaller villages with good community vibe. Also really much better located for commuting than villages north (NE/NW) of York as it is super easy to hop on the non rubbish bit of a64 and we don’t have to deal with a1237 to west or a19 east. Also only 20 min into York station and about 30 min to centre of Leeds. Other nice small villages around here are Acaster Malbis, Wighill, Askham Richard. If wanting a larger village I’d echo those suggesting Bishopthorpe or copmanthorpe. I don’t think any bit of York itself is that great though Fulham is okay.

Cheers guys!

Really happy after the tribulations of the last year to get settled.

Now just need to find an architect and builder to start discussions about renovation and extension work we”ll want doing smile

Just stumbled across the thread.

I do believe you've hit the sweet spot. Well done.

Bishopthorpe offers a village location without any through traffic, good road links and whilst not quite walking distance into York, jump on bicycle and you're there in 10 minutes.

Great location, enjoy.
