Had anybody had any experience with Regal Tuning at Poppleton, York?

Thanks

Dave.

Hmm,

Thanks. Noticed them locally and in the absence of anybody else in the area (York really is poor for anything car related) thought I'd give them a try.

Thier fb page suggests they opened up about 6 months ago. I might go have a chat with them just to see what they are about but now thinking not worth the hassle.

There is a Revo dealer in Hull but its a good hour away and nearly double the price. Wouldn't usually bother me but this is for a shed car I'll hopefully be rid of within 6 months. Just bored of the lag!

I've deleted my post.

The Regal that I'm thinking about are in Southampton. It's not the same company.

I'm not sure you were wrong. Seems to be a franchise owned business so 'Regal' name used in different places.
If its one guy doing the maps, Steve, and they're bad, doesn't matter where you are in the country, they'll still be bad.

I'd guess many operate the same model, certainly REVO seem to.

I think you need to consider two things. The quality of the software from Regal / REVO and then the surety of the installer to sort any issues to completion if it goes wrong.

I'd rather pay more and have it done properly (rolling road, etc) than a generic map flashed.

I assume the Revo map will include Dyno time?

I think it's just a generic map. Several authorised dealers offer, all the same price. About £400 iirc which is too much for me. Just after some cheap thrills until I can find a sports car.

Don't know whether is covid or summer but virtually impossible to buy a used 350 lotus for a sensible price at the moment.

Yeah you're right.

I'd save your money if I were you. Cheap maps seem risky to me (unless you can find someone with lots of independent, verifiable reviews) and if you're not keeping the car it's possibly not worth the cost of the Revo or a custom tune.

Might run it on 98 rons for a while. Should be worth a good 10 horses and get me into Prius level MPG

Is it the 150/180/225?

Do you care if you send the rods through the block and/or melt a piston or two?

225. Any less and I'd delete my account.

Why would any PHer buy any other model?

I think https://www.regalautosport.com/ (the Southampton one) is a massively reputable outfit and a quick look on their site looks like they're APR dealers, another reputable tuning/mapping company.

https://www.regaltuning.com/ (the York one) looks like a totally different place with no links to the one above - shove in Southampton for example (or anywhere!) into the dealer search function and nothing comes up.

Big Fish Tuning in Stokesley isn't that far away. They are held in high regard, did my Skoda remap last month.

Depends how far you want to drive. Think Awesome GTI in Manchester are an APR dealer.

Cheers will have a look.
Stokesley would give a great test run back to York!

I'd love to tell you how good or bad the map is but the keys are somehow magically welded into the mitts of my other half...
