Hi all.

I'm looking for recommendations on a paint shop in the York area who can sort a rusty arch issue on my T5 camper van as well as possibly do a bit of custom metal work. Anywhere decent?

Cheers
Dave

Ian Ellis, Motorbody Cosmetics in Elvington is very good. He’s painted many of ours and mates cars over the past twenty years.

Ian did a couple of areas on my Jag.

Plus points - no overspray, done on time within agreed budget.

Slight minus point - colour match isn't perfect (this is a silver car, so I understand that getting a good match is a pain. I was still hoping for better, but maybe I'm being too picky).

I'm round your neck of the woods, so please feel free if you want to come around and look at an example of his work.

Cheers both.

The van is silver so I'm already expecting to get the full side of it painted and not just the rear arch.

Moving to York date keeps getting put backwards but as soon as I'm there I'll pop and see Ian.

I second this. Ian did my Silvia S15 when it was damaged; great colour match for an old pearlescent white!

Good to hear another positive review. Definitely be getting in touch with Ian in the next couple of weeks.

Quick update - went to see Ian the other day and was massively impressed with what he had to say. Going back in the spring once the winter is out the way to get the work done.

Excuse the thread bump but FR Pulleyn over in Haxby are very good.

They did some panel repair and respray on my Mazda which has is the red crystal paint and is a sod to match. They did a superb job.

Guy to speak to is Darren.

I’d give Ian at Ellington another bump and recommendation.

Try matching Crystal Topaz, sometimes looks light blue sometimes green, but not flip, on the curved panel of a TVR Tuscan.

Ian managed to do so.
