Just a heads up for anyone head over from Tadcaster/York, with impeccable timing for half term, the delayed from Christmas work to replace the bridge on the A162 at Barkstone Ash is scheduled to take place next week, road closed 26th May to 3rd June.

For people affected coming fron the A64 to the North - take the left turn onto B1223 to Ulleskelf after you go past Grimston Park. Stay on Busk Lane into Church Fenton, left after you pass the runway onto Brackenhill Lane, first right onto Oxmoor LaneEdited by demic on Friday 24th May 07:23
Pops you out at Biggin, at the crossroads, just the other side of the entrance to the airfield. Misses the bridge, misses the awful roadworks near the industrial estate, some nice (narrow) twisty bits too.
Oh and, if you've got kids or you are an adult child, go see the crawler crane they are using to lift the bridge sections. Its MASSIVE!

Thanks for the update, I use that road once a month on business but next time will be late June. Our evening Lotus meeting is after the reopening too so no problem there.Edited by demic on Friday 24th May 07:23

Drove past it this morning and yes the crane is huge and rather impressive Pops you out at Biggin, at the crossroads, just the other side of the entrance to the airfield. Misses the bridge, misses the awful roadworks near the industrial estate, some nice (narrow) twisty bits too.

I can confirm it’s pretty impressive, we also drove past it this morning. Reminded me of my dear old dad, he drove the big cranes and piledrivers on the Humber Bridge project and several of the M62 bridge installations.Looking at the photo on here, the blue paintwork didn’t seem that bright from a fleeting look, maybe time for Specsavers!

It was good last year but insanely busy and a little chaotic. I think I prefer a regular Sunday at the motorist tbh!
It was absolutely mental busy this week on Sunday Morning, purely because the sun was out! They desperately need to sweet-talk the landowners so they can add 6 feet of width to that last bit of the way in where its single file in/out. I did wonder how it might cope with an event like this on top of the increasingly high visitor numbers, there was a ticketed event there recently to try and combat the problem with numbers and people still reported that it was chaotic (and the neighbours were irritated that they couldn't get out easily).

Thanks for this, I was going to post to ask what it’s like there these days. I haven’t been much over the past year because of the consistency in which this seemed to be occurring. Great that it’s so popular, but if something is misery getting in and out I prefer to avoid. Does anyone have recommendations on days or times when it’s enjoyably busy, rather than rammed?
Thanks

Someone told me a while ago they’d tried to get permission to widen the road, obviously not successfully yet.
the farmer is a mate of mine, the motorist have wound them up by having earlier and later events, blocking the road etc,
motorists owner turned up and told him he was going to widen the road, "but you dont own it" I will buy it then.......
the narrow road slows cars down, I`m suprised is hasnt got speed bumps in,
lots of bad feelings, I know all but one of the neighbours down there, non are impressed by the way things are run,

I can certainly understand the locals being none too happy with the traffic and noise. We go to our monthly evening club meetings and occasional midweek mornings for breakfast. Wouldn’t go anywhere near on a weekend.the motorist have wound them up by having earlier and later events, blocking the road etc,

problem locals have is there aren't enough of them to really get anything done.
Its a shame they didn't get an access road in from the far end of the overflow field where the road for Sherburn 2 terminates
that land is owned by another friendIts a shame they didn't get an access road in from the far end of the overflow field where the road for Sherburn 2 terminates
he was "told" that they intended to use the access from the industrial estate,
the owner just seems to wind people up for no reason,
