Right.. Just back from testing..

Had the bright idea of recording brief comments as I got to various points to indicate mileage to that point, rough time, presence of any unnecessary street furniture of the yellow photographic variety, but all I've managed to record is wind and engine noise and a faint whisper.

So, I'll type out directions and email them to those I know that are joining us.. I'll have a few printed copies with me on the day just in case I miss out on emailing anyone..

Show of hands please? Better let the pub know we will be arriving for lunch..

Depending on the state of the thaw, I've got about a 50ish minute route planned, with a couple of potential extra bits that would add another 20ish minutes to it.. I gave up trying either of the additional bits as there was no way I'd have made it around them tonight.

I am an interloper from the NW region. Is the route planned from Ladybower? If so where are we planning to stop for lunch?

Aargh.....I'm easily confused......put this on the wrong forum. Repeated here now, you might find it interesting...................

Came down Winnats Wednesday, 2.30pm.

Loadsa snow and blizzard. Rushup Edge just on, Devil's Arse closed.

Sod all visibility and a touch tricky. This is what the Cresta run must be like!

Went via Ladybower, up A57 to Sheffield. Caught 2 cars and a grit waggon over the top and we all caught the tail of a slow convoy. A mile or so further on, came round a blind left and the gritter had disappeared.

Nowhere for it to turn off.....spooky.......

Then spent 2 hours in Sheffield doing 10 miles. Solid ice everywhere and no bloody gritters!

Yeah great, thanks for reminding me... only spent three months getting excited to find that it only costs two grand plus fuel, food and beer.

VERY dissapointed.

I may be doing my own franco-spanish hoon again for a third of the cost.

GrumbleGrumble eh? what? Oh right, Sunday... yes, I'll be there pending new battery being fitted first thing Saturday. (my car, Martyn, batteries and Wooley Edge don't go together very well )

Route now traced on a map with my finger.. Will give the pub a call shortly to see what they think of people turning up and demanding food.. If all ok, will mail directions to folks..

If the Sheffield lot want to, you could meet at my flat, (just out of the city centre off the A61/Pennistone Road) then head up towards J36 to meet with Leeds, then we will take the A6101 out of town, (Rivelin Valley) towards Ladybower.

Not that I am trying to get a load of TVRs and other assorted exotica outside my flat to wake the neighbours or anything..

Isn't that what Sunday pubs are all about?...

I've arranged to meet rods at 10:30 just off J31 of the M1, and suggested a general gathering point at the Ladybower Inn for 11.30 - so....whatever people want to do, as long as we all meet at Ladybower, does that sound o.k?

Who had the hangover Rob?

Anyway, make your mind up - is it J31 at 10.30, or Woolley Edge at 10.30?
