Ehup guys.
As per title. I'm pondering buying a Passat as the family motor, but it only comes with one key. I can get a blank key transponder all kit and kaboodle for around £40 but will need it "Married" to the car.
So anyone know anywhere around Leeds/Hudds that'll do this for me?

Where did you get the transponder etc from please? I lost one of mine, and want to get another to re-code (can you re-code a second hand one?)

The above number would be appreciated also! smile

Defcon You can't use a old second hand fob apparently, it must be new.

Are all the chips the same then? Can they code any chip to a car, or are theyre different ones for different models?

All the same afaik. There are different keys though. Some have 3 buttons and some only 2.

What year is it?

If its 2000/2001 dont use VAG COM to scan it as it can ruin the airbag ECU if not I have a copy we can run a scan on and see what the problem is, did mine yesterday and got rid of the light

Check the connectors under the seat as a first step.
