Pay Variations
Discussion
A couple of idle wonderings:
My monthly pay is generally the same amount, plus or minus a few pence. But very so often there's as much as ~20p of difference (in the company's favour ), and it's always the tax, not the NI.
I've got a spreadsheet which calculates my tax using the government's list of tax and NI thresholds and rates. But the amount I calculate is out by about £5 (in my favour ). Yet the government's own tax calculator is accurate to within a few pence. I'm guessing there's some rounding involved, but I can't round up or down my own calculations in such a way to allow for a fiver's worth of discrepancy.
