Hi folks. I'm an ex TVR driver, now the proud owner of a proper air cooled 911.
Just got her and I'm looking to visit North Wales or the lakes, weekend of the 23rd September.

I'll be driving from Cheshire (near warrington) and I'm looking for a great drive preferably through the welsh mountains and then somewhere to stay. Looking for somewhere nice with my wife and three year old son.
Any suggestions?

A hotel/B&B/Cottage would all be considered but good food and a great location would be nice.
Any local knowledge & recommendations would be gratefully received. Thanks, lee

Hi There,

I'd take the long route. Over the Denbigh Moors, pick up the A5, turn off at Capel Curig A498 and then either down to Bedgelert, or up to Llanberis A4086. (There's some mountains in and around this area!)

http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/elisetype25 has some pics of roads you may encounter.

I'm on Anglesey, you could try The Bull in Beaumaris, good food, drink and a hotel to boot! Excellent fish & chips across the road at Neptunes.

Check out Alastair Sawdays website for other possibilities.

On Anglesey, Newborough beach is outstanding, the Sea Zoo is good fun, Treadurr bay will be nice, now the tourists have left, to name a few of it's many and varied treasures.

On the mainland, personal favorites include the Electric Mountain and the Slate Museum in Llanberis, and of course the Welsh Highland Railway.

Lots of castles, and good National Trust venues if you like that sort of thing.

Oh and there's a fantastic toy shop in Conwy.

Hope you have a good time, feel free to e-mail if you want any other info.

Regards, Neil

Hotels I have used in the area....

I can recomend the Trearddur bay hotel
www.trearddurbayhotel.co.uk/

And the "Ye Olde Bull's Head"
www.bullsheadinn.co.uk/
has little parking but superb food.

There is another near between Llanberis and Caernavon, Seiont Manor.
