See the thread "Two Types of Owner". This guy's either jealous so made the numpty comment to impress his son (probably) or one of the growing breed who only see modern TVR's as the real one's (Muppets). Either way he's in an N plate Disco (I had one and it needed significantly more dealer visits than all my Wedges put together) and your in a V8 convertible - Nuff Said!

I bet, if he passes another Land Rover, they don't wave. I bet if he brakes down, he will not be helped by anyone let alone another Disco owner. I bet he is not retelling the experience over the net to a Disco web site. BUT, I bet he told his mates he saw a fabulous car at the pub the other day!!!

[quote=M@H]Just pity the poor sods, afterall they were in an N reg Discovery... doubtless 0800 88 77 66 will be number known off by heart by the driver

I understand the Disco reference, but could some explain N reg and 0800 etc

Your cousin across the pond.

N reg means the year it was made- in this case 1995/6
the 0800 reference is the lan Rover breakdown telephone help line if memory serves!

hail transatlantic cousin!

Forget about what his dad thought, the kid was impressed so it must have had the wow factor.

Mate, all that matters is that you love your car. It may "only" be a Wedge, and I may "only" have an S... but they're TVR's and we love 'em.

I've had various "MG" comments made at my car and "it's not a proper TVR becuase it's not a Griff"... sure, I'd love a Griff, but I can't afford one. In the meantime, I'm happy and I love my S. Gives me a slice of the TVR pie.

Sounds to me like this guy needs a gentle reminder of the fact that TVR would not be producing cars today, if these cars hadn't been made...!

Sod him... just enjoy your Wedge!!!

I couldn't aggree with you more on this one Paul Wanyester - I may 'only' own an original series 1 Tasmin 280i. But I love it, it's a rare car, turns heads, looks and sounds good and most importantly of all - it's a TVR! Hope all of the comments from everybody have helped cheer you up

I came out of a shop the other day and there were two lads of about 7/8 hanging round my 390. Now I'm getting used to this strange new phenomenon whereby every teenage yoof feels they need to shout 'yer car's sh!te' ('cos they're all experts of course) and younger kids all shout 'mint car mate' or 'I'll give you ten quid for it' (quite why they think I'm their 'mate', or why their parents have allowed them to speak to strangers in this fashion eludes me: just another example of slipping standards I guess) but these two were different. A few quiet, awed 'oos' and 'ahs' when I dropped the roof and fired up the engine, then one of them pipes up 'I like your car. Can I buy it off you when I'm older?'
I told him yes, which seemed to thrill him no end, but as I drove off it occurred to me that by the time those two are old enough to be able to afford a TVR, there'll probably be no such thing as sports cars because they'll have been legislated into the history books.
As for our inesteemed chum in his LandRover, if I read the initial post correctly it was the kid who noticed the TVR, not his father. Still, if daddy had any appreciation of 4-wheeled things, he wouldn't have bought a Dick-covery.
