Regarding runs I agree - I tried the PH organised run once which was crap, mostly small hatches, subaru's and similar, on that - not one decent driver amongst 'em.
I was in the 7 club for years and lead small groups of 7's, but our big runs often got hijacked by idiots in ferraris, tvrs, and similar, who of course couldn't keep up with the 7's, on 7 type roads and several got crashed - one road in particular claimed a 355, 3 TVR's and some kind of 911 on one run!!
If you want to try and keep up in your chimaera, then you need chimaera type roads not 7 type roads, but the chim and Z28 would like similar roads, so they would be suitable on a run, your P5 would be suited to a classic type cruise which is fine if you like classic cruises.
If you try a run then you certainly need similar cars AND very important DRIVERS OF SIMILAR ABILITIES.
Good luck
Let me know
Mal
PS
Caerphilly is way too built up with houses to start - IMO you need to start somewhere more rural - abergavenny, llandovery, brecon etc etc.
The mountain cafe isn't in Carphilly, it's on the mountain.Regarding runs I agree - I tried the PH organised run once which was crap, mostly small hatches, subaru's and similar, on that - not one decent driver amongst 'em.

You can leave the cafe, go over the mountain via Blaengwynlais and pick up the A470 at Coryton or even shorter use the 469 turn left past GEC and pick up the A470.
Sorry but your comment of driver abilities I disagree with. We can't all be driving gods in a 7

Just sent a request to join the FB group. Currently living in Chepstow, but constantly going back and forth to Pembrokeshire at the moment, so will be good to get a break from it and start getting out to some meets again.

Do you just meet up or ever go for a drive? I cant make his week but will look out for future meets.
We have a pub meet on the first Weds of the month (this will be only the 3rd) but we have had a couple of drives out for a few of us. Nothing major and very last minute and kept to a few cars but we are just a like minded few who have got to know each other and swapped phone numbers so we can Watsapp each other. These days I tend to stay away from mass organised driving events on the roads because they can get out of hand - see above discussion.
If there's enough interest we could organise a route to follow on the same day or maybe a track day but its still early days and we are talking to people to find out what people want.
Bear in mind that this isn't a car club. It's a couple of people who got to know each other through the enjoyment of cars and now meet up once a month for a chat and to see/talk about everyone else's nice cars. We just invite all petrolheads to join us
Hi all Long time pistonhead member here - its been a while since i have attended a car meet even prior to Covid so hopefully i can get away from work in good time today and join you
