The Welsh Govt don’t need to find where they went wrong - TVR are quite capable of going wrong without anyone else’s involvement!

Now that Lord March has relocated Ken Tyrell's old shed to Goodwood, then maybe he would lease it to Les at a favourable rate, it's all his version of TVR will ever require!
What a wonderful piece of history. So glad that it will be cared for.
Ken Tyrell was a keen member of West Horsley Football Club, just a few hundred yards away from the family timber business.
A football club coach trip to watch the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, was the catalyst for Ken's love of motor racing.
The second hand wooden sheds were acquired and joined together to make a workshop at the Long Reach timber yard. A brilliant designer and a driver were selected and it was not too long before F1 cars built in that shed, were beating the might of Ferrari and winning both the drivers and constructors world championships.
With determination, dedication and a very modest amount of money (compared with now), it is remarkable what can be achieved.
Now, when looking for (car manufacturer) similarities between Ken Tyrell and Les Edgar, - they both lived in Surrey. -

Ford and its EV strategy not looking good. Cancelled their new SUV and scaling back overall. Its being reported that they lose $100,000 on every EV sold.
They do have a factory though, unlike TVR, which cost $5.6 billion, in Tennessee and are now concentrating on hybrids.
Daniel Layton of Ensorcia wants the EV Griffith but in the current climate?

Ken Tyrell's grandchildren went to school with me in West Horsley back in the late 70s
I would have thought that timescale suggests children, rather than grandchildren.

Going forward both Jaguar and Lotus have also put all their eggs in the ev basket, not a great idea, could be the final straw for both companies if the market goes belly up.
I almost put an order in for the electric lotus suv. They had a fire sale offer recently. Clearly they aren’t selling. £100k for a Chinese massive and heavy ev. No thanks. Gazzab said:

As a glaring contrast, one of the "click-bait" headlines under the BBC website story about the TVR / Wales deal reads, "Aston Martin recruits 400 for sports car jobs".
The reality is, Aston Martin sports car sales are only half the level they were in 2008.
Official communications by AML in recent times, tend to be, shall we say 'flexible'.
The prize winner was the Chairman saying, "We do not need any more money at all. Let me be crystal-clear, black-and-white: we do not need money". Within a few months, shareholders were asked for about half a billion Pounds, to keep the show on the road (official version - will be for exciting new models development, leading to profitable growth and for general corporate purposes).
Unfortunately car manufacturing is not an easy game (if you hope for profits), as TVR soon realised.

This is not a good time to be making cars. VW considering closing its German factories (for the first time ever) to save lots of euros. Audi also considering closing its Brussels plant where the Q8 e-tron is manufactured due to a slump in demand for high-end electric cars.
And if there is a slump in demand for electric cars then the demand for lithium will also recede which does not bode well for Ensorcia and their manufacturing plant in Europe. Which in turn means that TVR wont be getting any handouts anytime soon I imagine.

So why don't they just throw the towel in and say they gave it their best shot?
From day one they have struggled along and made countless promises that have failed to materialise. The first fund raising in London resulted in zero so that should have been the writing on the wall. But no, they then went to Ireland (LE is Irish) and even now have nowhere near enough money from the bond issue (due to expire in 7 months time).
They had no intention of actually taking the Welsh factory but strung the Govt along. The only redeeming feature is that they repaid that loan in full but that has left them short of cash again. So instead of saying, sorry its all over, they dream up a centre of excellence at Thruxton. All the last interviews with the motoring press promised the car would be made and sold in 2024 despite no factory. So, 11 years on and no nearer to fulfilling all the hype. The one and only car is 7 years old and if they still think they can get this operation off the ground they will need to design a new one, but that of course will cost money.
They had a parts business that could have provided some form of income but that has been wasted. Despite all this and, assuming it is correct, the depositor wiki page on PH suggests there are still quite a few lost souls who believe in Mr Edgar.
