DYNO DAY:

We run a basic map so that the car can safely be driven whilst we are sorting out small but time & money consuming details:
-Smaller diameter oil inlet feed line bolt (you will see it is smokey)
-Fitment of fluid reservoirs
-Engine bay heat insulation
-Proper throttle linkage & pedal adjustment
-One piece bonnet conversion
-Spacers & Corner weight
-Semi slick tyres
-New rear window
-Car detailing / painjob?
-Performance digital display
etc etc...

So we were looking for an initial safe flash/map, not too rich in order to be able to move the car in small distances and not flood the spark plugs etc. So performance was not in mind...
ie lower rev limiter and not agressive but safe approach.

Up to 5,000rpm:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S72KBHv8WKY&li...

Up to 6,750rpm:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tW5OXdq8BYU&li...

Up to 8,350rpm:
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/s8wBLtHoCj4

We kept 0.8 bar mechanical boost (so no boost controler has been fit at the time) and only tested it up to 8,350 rpm. Still we were happy with the initial results... Nice curves, pretty good torgue 450hp & 8,350rpm

Engine is capable for 9,500rpm+ and 1.4bar, you can appreciate there is some potential.

You're going to need a lot of luck. The 2.0 S2000 is way down on power and torque compared with a Speed 6, and then you need to fit it to the car, and the wiring loom, and fit a gearbox.

It's also the nastiest engine I have ever driven. The power band is so tiny and all at the top end. The only car I have ever had to change from 6th to 2nd just to find some power to overtake.

As for turbocharging - have you looked at the S2000 forums? They seem to all be old now, and even 3 years ago, no one seemed to be making an installation to fit the S2000 any longer, so you are going to struggle, and most of the kits that were sold just caused the engines to blow up and were expensive.

You are going totally down the wrong route, wasting your money and devaluing your car. You should sell your S2000 engine to an S2000 owner, and buy a Speed Six engine and get it sorted in the UK by one of the recommended suppliers here.
Superb. I had no idea how you'd get on when you started this project but it quickly became clear you were on top of everything with the attention to detail. Even the exhaust sounds good which is important to me and wouldd like to hear it at 8k under load, without the RR fans, for it's character.
It seems to be sitting low, possibly too low, at the front which with a lighter engine seems strange. Have you changed the springs?

Another question, do you regret not following the sage advice quoted above? rofl

Just wonderful, great result too. Love the sounds smile

So with a boost controller, you should be able to get the power to come in quite a bit earlier. Also boost by gear could be quite useful!

Looks (and sounds!) really good. It will sound awesome once wound up to 9k+! - nicely in keeping with the Tuscan's character, too, IMHO.

Hey guys thank you for your encouraging words !!
I am glad you start to see what we were trying to do here.

Good question if I would have done it - should I knew the problems.
I think its still a bit early to reply, but I can put some fact down:

- It will cost twice as much as I thought
- It will still cost me less than a full rebuild / spec to 4.5lt
- It is more powerful than any non-race Speed 6 I guess
- The gearbox is a "speed 6" don't forget ha! - so that alone is a huge improvement
- It's lighter that a speed 6 motor
- I will feel more secure using this engine and parts are everywhere - which means I will get to enjoy the car more and take it out more - explore the potential of the chassis and hopefully provide some valuable info to the TVR Tuscan community

- All the above are still theory - I hope we will manage all the heat / power / torgue

PS: Can' t wait. The project is is a very nice stage. - Have a great w/e everyone.

Bravo bow the time, money and dedication have shown through. Once finished and at your desired mapping it would be great to see it running free on a track.

Halktech Screen is on:

Short video:
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/WsJZsCbYDQMw8WDm/...

It displays all input from the ECU (AEM Series II)
Speed, Revs, Gears, Temperatures, Pressures, Boost etc. etc.

It is also possible to connect external devices, ie shiftlight, data-logging etc etc.

With the Speed 6 name referring to it being a 6 cylinder, which obviously is no longer going to be the case, have you considered a name change? My suggestion would be Speed 2000, which would have a nice link to the engine when abbreviated.

What a fantastic project.
I drive a replica DB5 on tracks based on an S2000 and it’s just marvellous.
It’s doesn’t have the power of this wonderfully crafted car but it’s very fast and contrary to what you’d imagine feels great to drive with its slick short shift gearbox manual steering and rip roaring engine which just makes me laugh as it screams in perfect harmony, it’s taught suspension handles very well( if a bit tail happy) and most drivers fall in love with it.
It’s done a lot of hard miles and over 60,000 on the clock and most of those are 4 days a week flat out on circuits and it’s been reliable for over 5 years doing this work. It’s very popular and taken to every event which is at least 4 a month and clocks up upto 140 laps a day on shorter circuits and possibly 450 miles a weekend. It’s never broken down although windscreen wipers seem to like flying off biggrin
This new Tuscan is possibly the most exciting TVR project for years and that includes the new Tvr.
The lower torque curve of this engine allows you to get on the power and build speed earlier to then utilise the BHP at high revs, it’s more like a race engine.
On track this Tuscan might be a drivers dream.
An utterly outrageous TVR car. thumbup
On the road a docile engine which is very quiet when asked which is a good thing sometimes then drop a gear and all hell let’s loose. They are great engines.
