MOT Emission tests are for CO and HC (Hydrocarbons in general) whereas VED charges are CO2 based.(unless you're a Private/Light Goods Vehicle smile )

Post back when you receive the tax reminder, you may be lucky and thanks for the info on the pc/plg status, one of mine was in the wrong tax bracket and was changed from pc to plg smile

The g/km was recorded as 362 on the V5 before it was changed from the PC to PLG category and this was on a 3600cc Tuscan2 factory engine so almost double the cost initially until it was rebanded yikes

You can check the VED rate of your car at https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ and you will need your 11 digit number off your V5C to get the tax status.

Despite being registered after 2001 my Sagaris comes out as PLG (TC11) which is £345, as opposed to TC39 which is £335

I do not believe that any TVR engine is Euro 4 compliant (TC36) which is £140

Anyway, £335 or £345, that's a lot more than in the past. I remember when PLG was £205

So where is my TVR ?
The point being ALL cars after 1st April 2006 should be EURO 4 complaint ... but we know different and they don't
All Type Approved cars should be. However, TVRs are not Type Approved and they do know that. Look at your V5C and you will see your type approval and tax band. I predict it will be same as my 2005 Sagaris which is M1 approval (ie. IVA) and "Passenger/Light Goods (PLG)"

PLG is TC11

https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-rate-tables/rates-f...

(Yes, I am aware that TC11 says "Cars and light goods vehicles registered before 1 March 2001" but this is a quirk of IVA)

edit: Oh, and the V5C on my car says that the emissions are zero. Which is nice. driving

What does it say on the V5C regarding Euro status, something along the lines of 'not available' ? smile

I'm not seeing any mention of that on the V5C. As in not even a section for it.

Try 'vehicle details' online, the relevant info should show up on there, its a DVLA website smile
