Greetings from the Colonies,

Have a '73 Stag with the original Triumph V8. Last night, in performing an inspection to pinpoint the source of a fuel leak from the Holley 390 carb, we were poking around with the engine idling and my mate plugged the breather hose for 30 seconds with his thumb, perhaps inadvertently, but in any case, all of a sudden, the valley of the engine became a river of oil! Left a dinner plate sized puddle on the ground in right quick time! Anyhow, we shut her down, cleaned up the oil out of the valley and restarted the engine and no further leak was present. Mind, I had recently driven the car on a 250 mile trip with no problems, so I am wondering if he happened to cause the crankcase pressure to build quickly (even though not much of any pressure was blowing from the breather tube) and cause the oil leak. My other question is where the heck would this have come from? Seemed like somewhere up near the water pump housing as it was running toward the rear of the valley when it began gushing. I've not had the intake off of this car so I'm not sure where there may have been a spot for the breach to happen. Thanks all in advance for any help!

Cheers,
Aaron

It will be the water pump housing.

I had this on mine. Hopefully, it has healed up. It's not an easy job.
