Hello,

Simple task today was to replace front discs and pads......done it a fair few times.... with very few problems. Today my 114K Passat decided to shear BOTH caliper carrier bolts (21mm)........

Don't really want to seperate the front hub from the car to drill out the bolt remnants so am going to grind through the carrier, remove the disc and then drill through hub where the bolt is held in place (I am 99% sure that the hub holes are straight through and not tapped).

Therefore, after I've ground through the carrier, I will need to replace it and also the two M21 bolts.

I hate E-Bay.....so where else can I buy a calliper carrier for a 2010 B6 2.0TDI Passat? with reputable Quality other than VW dealership?

I want a reputable parts supplier with the ability to provide the 'right part', without loads of hassle with on-line purchases/rejections/money back drama?

Anyone got any good recommendations for component supply for VW?
Thanks,

Chris

21mm spanner size is not M21, more likely M14. Once the caliper is out of the way, are the bolt remains not then easily attacked in situ with a bit of heat/Plus Gas/centre punch to remove them?

If you hate eBay I'm assuming you also hate Facebook, but that's a great source of vehicle-specific sales groups.

At 114k it should have been on it second set of discs I'm guessing when they were they where donelast they didn't get a little bit of anti sieze out on them

If it was still original discs not wonder they where siezed and snapped
