When I am going over a speed bump I can hear like a knocking/clunking sound. Sounds like it's coming from the right side of the car. I had my car in for new breaks recently and he replaced the anti roll bar which was also causing a knocking sound but from a different place. He mentioned that the suspension bush was worn and needed replacing before next mot. It wasn't making the noise at the time just started yesterday. If it's worn could it be the suspension bush that's making that noise? Are there other things that could be causing it and is it ok to drive?

The noise started under the car just after you had work done - I'd expect them to take a quick look under the car as a good will guesture if nothing else. Quite likely just tapping a few likely components will tell them what is causing the noise.

It seems pretty unlikely they'd send the car back with a safety critical problem, but it's impossible to diagnose funny noises from this side of the screen. How about you phone them up and ask them?

It is VERY likely that the bush mentioned is what is now causing the noise.

Although, I would question whether it was actually the roll bar that was causing a noise, as they don't really do that, most likely, you have misheard what they said and it was also a bush that they replaced.

" Suspension Bush " is quite vague. You need to clarify which bush it is and why he think it's causing the noise.
Cars have lots of suspension related bushes. Could even be a drop link with minor play causing it.

It is odd to replace the whole anti roll bar. Usually you'd have the anti roll bar bushes done, not the bar itself.

Think he said it was the link bar actually. Dont knoe if thats the same thing. I'll check the invoice when I get home. The knocking stopped so whatever he replaced was the cause of the noise. This noise is something different

Anti Roll bar link bush then.

That would be the cause and another has gone meanwhile.

Still haven't had chance to have it checked out. It was doing it for several days like a clunking sound over a bump and also sometimes a creaking sound. Weird thing is it suddenly stopped making the noise a few days and and hasn't been doing it since. Should I be concerned?

Possibly yes your drop link may have detached itself and stopped rattling

That depends what the problem is, which nobody knows.

At low speed over short distances? Probably.

High speed or long distance? Perhaps not.
