I know a low battery can throw and ABS warning light (I don't have that) but can anyone confirm if it can cause it to function erratically?

I was going to be replacing the battery on my XKR (known for being sensitive to battery voltage) in the near future anyway but I nipped out for lunch there and the ABS was activating at crawling speed at times and the pedal just felt all over the place along with the transmission feeling a bit iffy initially.

The car's been getting undersealed for the past week and a bit so I was expecting the odd issue until driving it again (commonly cruise control and speed limiter not being available initially) but I've never had an issue with the brakes. It was fine when I picked it up last night and on the drive in to work this morning (30 mins) other than the cruise/speed limiter.

Weak batteries can cause all sorts of funny problems, all you can do its fully charge it and go from there. Id normally associate Abs problems with the wheel speed sensors though but do the above and monitor it.

Underseal on the ABS wheel speed detectors?
Have you looked?

Forgot I posted a thread on this here as well as the Jaguar forum.

Update-

Getting an intermittent ABS fault with code C0037-07 Rear left wheel speed sensor and a new one just today which is C0036-07 Rear left tone wheel.

Here's a video showing the state of the ABS ring/reluctor ring which admittedly isn't the prettiest-

The issue seemed to be constant initially and the ring has since been cleaned to remove old grease and the ABS sensor has been changed. This is where the issue now seems to be intermittent. Collecting the car from the garage last night the issue went away, this morning driving to work it was fine until on the dual carriageway at 70mph about 5 mins after leaving the house. I nipped out for lunch just now and spending 10 minutes driving round the town at 30mph and it has stayed off.

Is it safe to say this should just be an issue with the ABS ring or is there anything else likely? When I drive home tonight I'll see how long it takes to reappear.

Driving home...all fine until NSL and it quickly flashed up with the fault.

Reset in a layby and all good driving through a town at 30, once in to NSL again it quickly reappeared. Something I noticed was with setting the cruise control at 62 there was a slight pulsing as something was clearly up as the car tried to maintain the speed before throwing the warning.

Once home I reset the codes and drove around town for ages at 30 and absolutely no issues.

That looks pretty grim, replace the ring.

I must admit, I have never seen a reluctor ring that bad before now.

Pretty conclusive then! I knew they weren't pretty but wasn't sure what was typically ok for a 17 year old car, think the right one won't be much better.
