Bridgestone Tyre age related question...
Discussion
Hi
I have just bought a scondhand car for my son and the seller has put some Bridgestone second hand tyres on the front..they seem to be in great condition lots of tread and no cracking but when i read the date stamp it says
should I just get rid anyway and get new tyres or is this a bridgestone thing?
thanks

Do the tyres match across the axles and all 4 corners?
Generally the advice is to get rid after 10 years for boggo tyres. Can be half that for performance ones. Worth looking it up on Bridgestones website for your specific tyre model.
Also if they match on all 4 corners, I'd be tempted to leave it.
Having said that, getting 4 fresh tyres of your choice will provide peace of mind. Maybe drive it a bit, get a feel. See if you want anything out of the car, like more precise steering, or a smoother ride and get a tyre to suit. Can make a surprising difference, although there are trade offs. So smoother ride usually means less precise steering etc. Lots of reviews on tyrereviews.com.

Tyre manufacturer date format is week year.
First 2 digits can only get upto 52.
So that tyre is was made in the 9th week of 2019.
So it's getting on 6 years old now.
Still worth looking up that particular tyre models lifespan on Bridgestones website. Some need to be changed at 5 years. Super sticky performance track biased tyres can be 2 years.

Appreciate it's an Australian link, but this is Bridgestone's own take on tyre age:
