Can someone sanity check this for me. This is my current alignment with the steering wheel bang centre - I know the wheel was centre as I drove the car on the ramps and set it myself. With this alignment I have to hold the wheel about 2.5 degrees to the left for the car to drive straight. If I centre the wheel the car steers right. Does that make sense according to these alignment numbers?

The front toe being different side to side indicates that the steering isn't centered. This is probably why you feel the steering pulling. To correct it you need to lock the steering wheel in the center position and adjust both track rods to make the toe equal on both sides (and preferably both within the specified range).

The rear looks a little off, which won't be helping things, but I suspect it's the front toe which is causing your main problem.

Thanks. This is how an Audi dealer set the alignment after having the car all day and assuring me it is 100% alignment correctly…

It's blatantly not aligned correctly, as you can see from the red boxes!

Centering the steering it very simple and will probably only take five minutes. The fact they haven't bothered even with that makes me wonder whether they actually did anything at all.

Yes… it needs sorting out so it’s within tolerance.

The OP said he centred the wheel himself, which seems odd as normally whoever is setting up the alignment should do this.

Apologies I haven’t explained it very well. The Audi dealer aligned my car and then I collected it at the end of the day. I immediately could tell it was off centre and drove like crap. Next day I took the car to an indie with a Hunter machine and drove the car onto the ramps and made sure the wheel was centre to get a reading of what Audi had done. These images are that reading

Yes - the front toe is one of the easiest things to correct, but they've left them unequal and both wrong. I doubt whether they made any attempt to correct the geometry.

So it's been to two places now ? Why didn't you take it back to the dealer in the first place ?

And did both offer before and after charts ? Or did the latter read only, but make no changes ?

There is no way I’m going back to Audi if they managed to screw it up this badly the first time. Clearly they are incompetent

Yes I went to an Indie to take a reading only. I will now research somewhere local with good reviews to get this sorted out

Looking at the numbers again I reckon the Audi technician just aligned the front wheels to the rear wheels in a simple ‘2 wheel alignment’ and they did that with the steering wheel off centre. It wouldn’t be the first VAG car I’ve had with the passenger rear toe out of spec from the factory.

Err what's wrong with the indie you've just used to check it was out, what don't you get them to align it ?
