Came Back to my car after work to find this, no note left, it's a 2013 c220 , I've just been quoted £1200 from a local garage, that about right??

Seems a lot to me. I would've thought £500ish but the car brand may be pushing the price up!

Assume new rear light will be a chunk of that.

Give your local dealer's parts dept a call & get a price for the rear light cluster.
The garage doing the work will probably get a max 10% trade discount.

Does the £1200 incl VAT as that is £200 of the bill & takes it down to £1000.
Deduct the price of the light & see what's left.

I've been down to a scrap yard and hit gold and managed to get a near mint rear light cluster for 80 quid, I've now been quoted 900 for the bodywork repair

That's always assuming that it doesn't need to be programmed to the car....
