Here's a couple of pics of the GFs 350Z, I've never owned a new car but you're spot on. She's already added to the extensive detailing supplies we (rather I) have to keep it immaculate. Really can't help but stare at it now everytime I walk by it. Not the greatest pics for a black car as this was in the detailers but as the good weather has gone now in the UK this may be it for a bit
Oof, that's an absolute beauty My favourite wheels too - are they the original Rays? There's just something special about the looks of the 350 that the 370 didn't quite manage to capture, not that I'd say no to either of course...BrownEaredDog said:

They're the stock Rays but they've been refinished. The centres are a dark grey with holographic flake (you can just see a bit of sparkle in them) with the lips polished bare metal. She's built herself quite the thing to keep clean hasn't she Thanks for the compliments, it's a really lovely car to drive tbh. Comfy, makes a great sound (custom exhaust on this one) and just a couple fo subtle add ons to finish it off. She's done well.

They have a very special sound indeed. I haven't driven one and it's unlikely that I will - they're extremely rare over here.
Nothing terribly exciting going on in the shop right now, but the mopeds and motorbikes have stated rolling in so that's my winter work sorted. I really enjoy working on these two-wheelers so there may be a few posts with these.
Until then...
The Golf has had the first coat of paint.
It'll get another coat, then clearcoat. It was a labour of love to correct the wavy roof, but we got it sorted in the end.
This turned up today, an ex-UK Morrison Electrofreeze ice cream van. I think "Electrofreeze" is such a delightfully 1960s name
My guess is that this one is based on a Ford Thames rather than the later Transit-chassis as it has front leaf springs.
Didn't manage to get more pics today, but I think it'll be with us for a bit so I'll grab more along the way.

The van looks like it has swb Transit wheels. It's the other way around, Thames 400e range had front wishbones and coils. The larger Transit had a beam front axle on leaf springs, on Mk1, Mk2 and even Mk3 lwb models, before eventually going onto massive wishbones with coil springs on later ones.Until then...

Well I'll be, thanks Steve - I had no idea, always thought the Transit was fully independent at the front right from the start.Edited by BrownEaredDog on Friday 6th December 09:13

Lovely to see this back, and hope you go well over the winter Mr Brown eared dog !
It feels like a peek behind the curtain, more interesting than seeing the end result, for me. And clearly loads of us appreciate you doing this.
Thank you It's a very satisfying job, I especially love seeing the project cars come and go. It feels like a peek behind the curtain, more interesting than seeing the end result, for me. And clearly loads of us appreciate you doing this.
On the subject of the job, this is my absolute favourite tool ever - the UV gun.
Sand back to the raw polycarbonate then use some UV putty to repair shallow damage:
Sand that down, then spray a thin layer of UV Autosurfacer:
...then a little work with 400/600 grit and the repair is undetectable. Minor jobs that used to take hours due to waiting for layers of filler to dry now take minutes.

Quirky van. Looks in great shape; new livery for new owner?
The front side and indicator light units look familiar but I'm stumped...someone?
I'm actually not quite sure exactly why it's in, well apart from paint of course, but it's certainly not in bad condition. The dashboard is a mess though - wires everywhere - and the paint is flaking in quite a few places. I'll find out more next week The front side and indicator light units look familiar but I'm stumped...someone?
The indicators seem familiar, but I can't place them either; I'll try and get a closer look at them on Tuesday. I think the grille is from a Bedford CA. I suppose they just used whatever parts they had in stock?
Forgot about this one. We had yet another Mercedes A209 convertible in last week. Rotten in all the usual places of course. I didn't take pics of the other side, it's exactly the same

A few more pics of the Electrofreeze Apparently we're going to be working on the dashboard, ice cream chest freezer thingy (no idea what it's called in Danish, let alone English ) and a few exterior panels that have seen better days.
I'm going to try to badger the boss into letting me do a bit of work on it, but there's a Yamaha FS1E (Fizzy as we old farts used to call them) that's likely got my name on it...

Checked the indicators today, Lucas L742 from mk.1 Triumph 2000 & 2.5 PI. Knew I'd seen them before, but I was convinced it was some Land Crab rather than the Triumph The front side and indicator light units look familiar but I'm stumped...someone?

When everyone got 50s in the fifth year one of my friends got a brand new Fizzy...he was into body building and at 16 he was a shade over 6ft, 16stone with 17inch biceps and all the rest to match. Looked hilarious riding around on it trails said:

I hate a mate called Martin that owned one too - he was a "robust" chap and the bike almost disappeared when he sat on it. I had an RD50 at the time. Ah, the memories of two-stroke fumes and skinny-tyre burnouts in the multi storey carpark BrownEaredDog said:

We always said he should have got a DT...would have been more in scale, good fun times. Feel privileged to have grown up in those years Gassing Station | Bodywork & Detailing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
