Painting a grille?

I've got a s/s mesh grille on the front of my car that's painted black, however it gets chipped to bits and I'm sure presuure washing knocks more paint off? I've had to re-spray it a couple of times now and I'm getting fed up.

What would you recommend to paint the grille with so that it lasts longer and is less suceptable to stone chips/pressure washing?

Can you powder coat SS?

Its all in the keying to gain a good adhesion to the substrate, being mesh your not gonna be able to do sufficient prep for a job that's gonna have any longevity.
Cant you buy some black mesh and fit it?
