I took this one of a new and classic fiat 500 at Uxbridge in 2008. The New 500 is thought of as a small car, but looking at this...
Edit, save u clicking to get the effect see below
But one nice thing about this pair is they are both quite small by todays standards. The MGb has much roomier cockpit than the TF, but more boot space in the newer car.

edit added the MGs then made the link work smile

Terrible parking wink
I blame my old man who drove it at the time. The picture has already found it's way onto the bad parking thread in the past I think.

I don't have a photo but the latest 911 looks like a big old blob.

Be interesting to see one next to an early model.

I wonder what the early Mondeo would look like next to the modern one. I've been told that the new model is bigger than the Scorpio and I thought that was big in the day. The again, a Mk 1 Golf and a modern would look interesting. C'mon you gifted people!

From previous page - 993 vs 997 wink

Okay, so not the latest 991 (but close enough to the 997) - but the 993 is essentially the same shell as the original...

ISTR the new 991C4 is 10 inches wider than the original 911.

I love the way the TF is narrow by today's standards. On a back road it makes so much difference not having to pull in to pass. Handy in town too yet it still gained a 4* NCAP rating despite the lack of side airbags and was the first car to pass the pedestrian impact tests - along with the Honda CRV. Especially good as sportscars and SUVs are hated by Brake...

Driving behind a Triumph Stag this morning. It looked tiny in comparison with the 'moderns' around it but back in its day I would have regarded the Stag as a big car.

I like all those nice straights on country roads that are a series of S bends in fatter modern cars.

Mini's are the best example... especially parked next to their BMW built namesakes.

Too right! My "real" mini and a mates BMW mini!
So bonnet height about the same, roof height about the same. Mostly it's the styling that makes it look a lot different. That and the original Mini was very small, even in it's day.

Leg, you wouldnt have happened to be a former TTForum user (possibly still do)?. That garage/M3 triggered a memory from a build thread on there. Random I know, as its been about 6 years since I was on there, but something seemed familar.

They look quite similar "sized" to me. The only real difference is the more bloated styling of the newer model to accommodate a bigger boot and more rear headroom.
