Distributor Issues

I've just replaced a points distributor with electronic and had the same problem! Despite it all being set to top dead centre it wouldn't run, just backfired etc, and had no spark when I checked. In the end I just kept advancing the timing and eventually got it running, not quite sure how, but might be worth taking a closer look at the timing
