Will now have to move to the spotted thread!
The Alpine hasn’t moved from that spot for the past year - and for 2 years before that it was up on one of the garage ramps

So it turns out it isn't running a small block Chevy (my memory must be playing tricks on me) in fact it's got an Alpina installed - and according to the DVLA the capacity is stated as 5365 so it must be a V12? Round the back of a cafe in the north east cotswolds by any chance? Deliberately vague here
If so, not waiting to die, customers projects in the long queue at the garage awaiting restoration. Owner of the garage (Dom) is a rearly nice chap

Swapping a 327 V8 for a BMW V12 would be a very strange thing to do, given that American engine is likely to be more reliable, weigh less and produce greater power.

I'd hazard a guess that the car probably had a small-block Chevy in it at some point, 5,365 cc is equivalent to 327 CID and there is a GM V8 of that size, but has since had a BMW engine fitted in its place. That would explain the Chevrolet part of the story, anyway. Any BMW engine is more likely to be a straight six.

That would explain it - it's been a regular visitor to this particular garage over the years and I'm sure they told me it had a small block Chevy. Have to pop in Friday to drop my car off so will see if that is the case....Swapping a 327 V8 for a BMW V12 would be a very strange thing to do, given that American engine is likely to be more reliable, weigh less and produce greater power.
