Weren't they galvanised?
I believe only part of the body was galvanised (not sure which part) - however I viewed one a few years back and the sills were rotten.

Spotted near the seafront in Hastings.

Doesn't seem to have moved in a while.....
Looks like a 105.

I think they had the Perkins diesel so it will still start!

I think the later ones were galvanised, including the sills, but they still rust down there eventually …

This one isn't actually as bad as it looks - just that they've been doing work to the barn without covering it up.rolleyes

Could be a genuine GTI - should have the BBS cross spokes. Has a sunroof too. Lovely cars - had one myself back in the day.

I posted that car previously on this thread some time back probably c7 years.

It has been there since I first walked past the farm in 2006.

So many sweet sweet cars rotting on Rhodes. This forgotten Panda hire car appeared salvageable.

Looks like a great candidate for Jonny Smiths Late Brake Show.

I bet that Jag has rotten sills (and probably more besides).

The plate must be on retention as DVLA has no info on it.

I was driving, so no "live" pics I'm afraid but I stalked these on Google Street view.

A back street in Aix les Bains, Savoie, contains a run down looking house with several UK reg cars seemingly left to die.

Out on the street when I went past was this R plate Megane Cabriolet, a 16v judging by the wheels. Rear window was ripped and it was all a bit green and mossy.

Just visible from the road was something far more interesting: a Renault Sport Spider, in yellow and bearing the plate "ROS81F", a cheeky nod to the French view of us Brits but not showing on the MoT check database sadly.

This also looked unloved, exposed to the elements and abandoned. There was also a silver Golf Mk5 with a serious covering of mildew all over the interior.

Not sure what the story is with these, but apologies if anyone on here has any connection to them. I didn't stop to poke around.

Wow, that's a rare spot, and as you say great numberplate. Be interesting to know the story behind it, only ever seen a couple of Renault Spiders on the road at most - looks like it's even RHD too.

Iirc, only the UK cars came fitted with a windscreen. Hope the numberplate isn't lost forever, great reg for a French car.
