COOL CLASSIC CAR SPOTTERS POST! (Vol 3)
Discussion
Idly browsing scabby 944's and this pops up - not the 944 but what's in the background. A UK registered Talbot Matra Bagheera! When was the last time you saw one of these? They had a diabolical reputation for rusting through the chassis so the fact that this one isn't a pile of dust is a surprise

I owned one of those in black, a strange animal with a lot of understeer if you don't carry weight in the front :-) you had to threw it in the corner so to speak when driving a bit faster. One day I was driving to a place I went most weekends and saw a car friend coming up behind me, he was going fast, so I was going to as well, most of the times it was very silent on those streets, so I had to do a sharp left and then right after a sharp right, I knew I had to flick the car a bit otherwise I could not go well in that corner were almost never would come another car...
But that day and moment there came a car... it was a pretty wide road, but he stayed at his 'line and my car was already understeering... I waved, he tried to look cool as in, I'm on my side of the road on the line, but still on my side and I stay here...
so...could not make that corner as planned and went in the side of his car, a new ford escort mk3 at the time I believe, anyways, his door a bit and the doorstyle a bit more and then I was out again...
The GRP on that side of the Bagheera was a bit damaged, but just a little bit, his car was way more injured, I noticed that the structure by the headlight was very thick GRP, ofcourse it was a bit damaged, but I could repair it myself at the time very easy, even the pop up lights still worked hah.
My pride was way more damaged though

There's a great classic club scene in Morecambe, as from the look of that I think that's where you are based.Legacywr said:
Lovely! My first car journey was being brought home from the hospital in a white Type 3 1600 Variant (the estate version of this) that my dad had at the time. It too was an early pre-facelift car like this. The T3 never had twin exhausts though, nor the domed hubcaps from the Beetle - wonder what's going on under the (rear) bonnet....?
