I think it's a 1960 Ferrari 250 Gran Turismo Special Spider.

4-exhausts, same style over-riders, boot catch and reflectors in same place, same inset on boot. The Maserati is close, but not identical.

I'll see if I have a photo.

If it is, it seems that the car was purpose built by Pininfarina on a 250 SWB chassis specifically for the 1960 Geneva Show. It was then bought by a wealthy Parisian lawyer called Paul Villard who was a close friend of Enzo's, which could explain the French connection of P5BNij's photos. Questions remain - it is clearly now a different colour - or was it not a one off?

Those are good photos; it does look quite convincing, even the top rear lens colours are clear in both pictures.

The car in Dapster's photo does have a Paris regn on the front (75), although the original photo (P5BNIJ's), whilst I can't make it out clearly, does appear to be French but not 75-regd, possibly 34? (Hérault). Anybody have a better resolution?

I'm having second thoughts: The Special Spider has 2 separate number plate lights and Ferrari badge on the bootlid. On closer inspection, the red car appears to have a longer single number plate light and no Ferrari badge.

Some (not all, later ones I think) of the Ferrari 400 Superamericas had the same style rear as the Special Spider but a single long number plate lamp and no badge. I've seen a picture of one, a 1962 Superamerica Cabriolet, French regd, 6361CY94, which might just be the same number as that in the photo, but my screen resolution isn't quite clear enough to be certain.

So, latest thought, Ferrari 400 SuperAmerica.

Much better than a wet Machester in the 1950s

Yes, I think it is. If I remember, the meet included the De Tomaso Pantera owners club, so there were far more of them there than you’d expect in a random selection of classics or supercars.

The last Superamerica built. Originally went to USA, where it was well-used, returned to Europe in the 70s, regd to chap near Paris, hence 94 dept. regn. He had it resprayed maroon.

Sold at auction for $7.6million in 2015 ( photos in auction advert show French regn, also in maroon colour.). I'm now 99% sure that is the same regn / car as in the photo.

Damned fine detective work there Tarquin, thankyou! As far as I'm aware it was taken in Paris, it's one of a number taken around Europe by a chap called Piere Plouquett (I think that's how it's spelt anyway). It came up in a general search for Italian exotica awhile back and I filed it in the wrong place, only finding it again the other day.

Imagine a Miura and Superamerica being parked up nonchalantly in a side street these days....

I actually got to drive a Superamerica derivative in 2019. Now that WAS an experience!

Oh, how I loved scrappies. They used to be the only practical way to keep the daily running.
Favourite ever find was a 135M Delahaye broken in two pieces in a yard in Nottingham. If I'd known then what I know now I would have at least photographed it, but it was the mid 70s and nobody else was interested.
