Glas 1004: nice find smile

The first production car to feature a belt-driven camshaft, apparently.

That threw me as I always thought it was the Fiat 125 - maybe that was the first to have a belt-driven twin-cam?

yep, your good thumbup
I would have never guessed it was a Glas, never seen this model.

also not knew that historie of that belt driven camshaft, if it was that new, I bet some broke (or lost some teeth) it before changing it for a new belt on time, I new I did in a BMW Alpina C1 long time ago, braking on the engine when seeing the stoplights go red, iy then lost a few teeth on the belt by the crank and that brought 3 valves bent and me stranded long time ago.
Well that sent me down some rabbit holes ! They produced the Goggomobil which reminded me of this.

So Glas played a part in the early competition days of an F1 Champion. clap

I do like a full pic of old classics but not very good at identifying much .

At least 4 Taxi Peugeot 404s

FIAT seems to be the favourite foreign make ,I can see 10 I think.....5 x 500s , a white 600 behind a red 850 coupe , 124 estate and 125 estate and a 124 coupe and maybe a 1500 saloon in the left side street parking .
Pagoda and a BMW 2000 in the background .BMW might be a Simca .

Fantastic!

I can see a white ADO 16 next to the no entry sign with a vinyl roof so perhaps a 1300 GT? There's a smooth looking 230/280 SL Mercedes turning right a couple of cars ahead of the Coca Cola truck. Is that an Anglia to the left of the white mk 1 Escort? The 204 in the foreground looks pretty new.

The Escort has "94" suffix which is Val-de-Marne, SE Paris. I'd say the pic was very late 60s.

EDIT:

Oh, and a blue Herald convertible parked facing us middle of pic

Behind the coke truck is a blue Estafette van, and behind that is a blue Pug 504 so 1968 at the earliest

Grey Audi in the foreground would be unusual for France then, as is the grey Opel Kadett.

A couple of Fords in shot at least as well, Mk.1 Cortina and Mk.1 Escort.

There's a MIni in the far background I can see, and what looks like a white with bvr Austin 1300GT under the no-entry sign?

Quite a few Fiats in there, but I'm not sure the estate car with the roof rack is a Fiat 124 as I don't remember them ever having twin headlights - might be a Seat model?

There's a MK Escort behind it and in the background a Mini.

Yeah, the car with a roof rack is a 125 Estate and I think W I d e body thinks that too ... the 124 he refers to is further back, next to the DS.

designed by Pininfarina? ow? did not knew that, I thought they look not my taste with those inboard wheels hehe but then, guess its around the fifties periode? I believe they then showed some 'strange' showcase cars at big car shows? I remember some other often bigcars with those wheels covered and inboard looks, almost like some flying cars hehe

You are very good, I would never guessed that, for me it was a unknown car.

in NL it says this on the documents: SP-25-19 Armstrong-Siddeley Hurricane Pennock Cabriolet 1950

Good to see a few R16s in there too, I’ve missed them.

There another mini - behind the 2 404 taxis bottom left there is a burgundy Mini I think.

An next to the no entry sign, is that a red Herald convertible?

Just in front of the coke truck blue/green convertible another Herald, bringing the total to 3?

The 304’s with sliding steel sunroofs, unusual for the time?

My eye was really caught by the ADO16, agreed could be 1300GT.

Is that le flic on a Mobylette?

A healthy smattering, of Renault 16’s, Mini’s and Fiat 500’s.

I do like an old traffic jam.

The 304's are 204's. Different headlights.
