Just found this old photo in my desk drawer.
It’s my old 1972 BMW 2002 manual taken when I lived in Germany ca. 1992. I loved that thing. 100bhp and 1000kg RWD was just right for me at that age. In grandad beige it was a mini Q car.

I sold the car when I returned to Blighty a few months later, but I’ve still got that footie shirt!

About the same time I owned a verona red 2002tii in the UK - it had those exact wheels and shiny chrome hubcaps but with 130bhp it was fun to show the then hot hatches clean pairs of round rear lights It’s my old 1972 BMW 2002 manual taken when I lived in Germany ca. 1992. Nooooooooo!

Stocks of manual 928s are slim, I've looked at a couple of local cars that could be offered, and they're just not great for the money. Yes, I could wait and keep looking globally, but I don't have the patience!
This 968 is just 20km from where I live, has had two owners, the most recent for the last 22 years, and a fully stamped book for all 28 years at either Porsche main dealer or Porsche specialist. The Porsche specialist that is selling it has also been the maintainer for the last 11 years.
In short, I think its a good one, and I think I've got it at a good price. Of course, time will tell...

However the rest of the thing should be a corker. The 924/944/968 series was never about the engine which you will find to be at best uninspiring and utilitarian. However the chassis and handling should be sublime. I seem to recall that Autocar described the 944S2, the 996GT3 and the 987 Cayman as being the three best chassis' that Porsche had ever produced, bar none, and the 944 and the 968 are pretty much the same thing. Make sure that the geo is right, point it at a challenging road and revel in the experience.

The 968 is anything but pretty at the front, particularly with the headlights up. The only faintly positive thing you can say about that which may be the most ugly sight inflicted on the world by a motorcar is that it will only ever be seen in the dark, and you'll be dazzled by the lights.
In which case…
Personally, I don’t mind the styling - it’s not as nice to look at as either the 944T/S2 or 928S4/GT but I don’t care.
I was being slightly controversial, but Porsche's attempts to give all their range a similar look from the front really didn't work with the 968. That looks like someone has surprised it by shoving a banana up it's bottom.
However it's all immaterial; you won't ever see that view while driving it and it should be a corker on the roads. I hope you enjoy it!

At the risk of stating the obvious, the whole point of pop up headlights is (the enhancement of) the car's looks when they're down. However it's all immaterial; you won't ever see that view while driving it and it should be a corker on the roads. I hope you enjoy it!

I kinda agree with you - it needs the flared front wings of the 928 to make it work. However it's all immaterial; you won't ever see that view while driving it and it should be a corker on the roads. I hope you enjoy it!

But I’ve bought worse looking cars, and I intend to enjoy this one

Are you actually mentally deficient, or are you honestly yet to see a G80/G82 M3/M4 in the flesh..?Chunkychucky said:

Awesome pair

It's a tiny car - and I'm only 5' 8" - I have to take my shoes off to drive it as the pedals are so small!

Only picked this up late last year, hasn't had much use yet, but when the weather improves it will be getting out more.
I can't take credit for the photograph though that was done by Tadgh Collins (tigger_collins on Instagram)
1988 735i with < 80k miles, Original Irish car, but spent a long time in Spain as well, so completely rust free underneath.

The best looking seven series ever? I certainly think so I can't take credit for the photograph though that was done by Tadgh Collins (tigger_collins on Instagram)

Frogeye looks lovely, always had a soft spot for them but worry as a broad-shouldered '6 footer' that those and Midgets may be a bit snug for me
I had a Midget for quite a few years and I'm 6ft2 and was about 14.5-15 stone. There's plenty of room once you're in but you do look a bit odd threading yourself through the tiny doors. There's a technique to getting in you'll soon learn - left leg in, then bottom, then right leg, and you may need to use your hands to pull your right leg up depending on how flexible you are. If you fancy one then try it as they're great fun, but awful on motorways like many small engined sixties cars (although mine was '70s).
