Tales from the workshop

I worked in a rover dealer in Oxford in the late 80s, the mechanic on the ramp next to me started chatting to me while he let his ramp down, after a few seconds out of the corner of my eye I could see the ramp was coming down at the front but not the back, he hadn’t unlocked the back wheel free release bar, just as I shouted whoa and he let go of the ramp drop lever the car started sliding off the ramp and hit the workshop wall which in turn knocked over a load of stuff in the shop on the other side of the wall where people were queuing to pay for petrol, it pulled the back legs of the four post ramp out of the floor and pulled the exhaust extractor pipe out of the ceiling about 30 foot up.
