Just spoken to Mrs WJS68 who happens to be an architect - i am mistaken (as she will happily point out is so often the case) as we are not in a conservation area (by a couple of streets apparently) and therefore do not need permission from the council to erect a temporary structure.
However I do need her permission. Which she has denied.
I think you need to get a more understanding wife when it comes to the love of a classic Jag and not live under her thumb mate! However I do need her permission. Which she has denied.

To be fair she's been telling me to bring the Jag down for the last 5 years - it's me that's been dithering. She'd also have no problem with me renting the lock-up - again it's me that can't get my head around paying half the value of the car each year to garage it! Totally agree mate, Carcoons are good at preserving cars parked outside.
There’s no doubt that they are - but I just wouldn’t want one on my drive, like a big silver box, flapping away. Luckily I have a garage …wjs1968 said:

There's a rising tide of black all around that car, years ago when all old bangers were like that we used to call it 'creeping black' on account of it creeping its way up the car.Not many I guess ... black rear valance as well (shudder)

I wouldn't touch that Merc diesel S2 with a bargepole, It looks a right tarted up old dog, Black underseal where there should be body colour and i bet the interior smells like a damp Labrador and stale farts!
A panzer engined Jag. Sir William Lyons will be rotating in his grave.....
