DP412
Martin Brewers superb Aston Martin Project 214 Re-creation. Three double Webers bolted on the straight six. Basis was DB4GT 3.7 litre spec: 310 brake at 6K.
The original Aston Martin DP214 was built in 1962 and raced at Le Mans in 1963. Martin entered his recreation in the Barrie SS race.
Martins car was built up using DB4/559/L as the basis and was completed in 2005.
The original DP214 recorded 300 kilometres per hour (186.4 mph) down the Mulsanne straight, in 1963 and with Ireland at the helm. Final result was a 6th overall.
Martins car is a stunner and quick as well. Barries race was in the wet - pretty wet! - and a slippery affair for most. Together with Pete Foster of blue TR4 fame, they brought the car in at 44th with a 3:44 best lap. Wet indeed!

How to the jockeys feel about that much flash? Isn't it distracting, particularly mid corner?Even so bear in mind that modern flash sync speeds are a lot faster than they used to be so flash duration tends to be shorter. Plus mid corner at La Source means that most of the corner work is done already and people are more than likely focussing in the kerbs at the far side otf the track if their lights illuminate that far ahead. (Although in that shot the ambient light is probably not dark enough to make on car lighting the only light source.)
I ignore flash as it gives the cars a strange look at speed.
Also I like to snap them when they are coming towards me . . . not a polite gesture to flash at that moment.
Indeed, not much work mid corner as I noticed both Alasdair and Jerry waved to me when passing. Apparently one hand is enough then.
And for some, it always is enough

Actually looking at that picture in more detail the lighting isn't flash, sorry. There's no lighting inside the car and the colour is wrong.
The lighting is complex, there is a shadow in front of the rear wheel arch. This can only be from the cars behind. The lighting has must be at mid car height.
The strongest lighting on the car is on the rear wing, it looks higher than a cars head lights. It is also at too sleep an angle, it's almost perpendicular to the car, so it would need to be a sharp corner for a car to be there. Is there some over head lighting near this corner?

Think so yeah.
Jaap Sinke in the Deeniks Ford Falcon Sprint (ex-Carrera Panamericana car):
3:07s with this 289 powered beauty. A fantastic 41th finish, especially as you know the engine was not run in and Jaap had never drove it before! Class guy.
Exhaust fumes flowing in the office so note the tubes to let it all out . . . kind of.

The exhaust fumes and lack of proper wipers must have made things more than tricky, especially in the last hour and a half. It seemed to be always passing by on the pit lane" .... passing a B" Hmm. Not just any B but the B that finished second in class, one lap down to a Porsche having spent about 12 minutes waiting in the fuel queue, and 13th over all. Quite a performance.
