HI
"SLIGHTLY" OFF TOPIC:
JUST QUICKLY AS THIS POST REALLY INTERESTS ME AND LOOKS LIKE THE RIGHT GUYS TO ASK' HAS ANY ONE COME ACROSS SIMILER SETUPS FOR MGF'S
AS THEY USE THE SAME K-SERIES ENGINE AND PG1 BOX?
DOES ANYONE HAVE INFO ON THE DURATEC CONVERSION? IVE SEEN IT USES THE ORIGINAL PG1 BOX?

"ON TOPIC"
DOING THE DURATEC USING ORIG BOX/AXLES/CLUTCH/CABLES (guessing parts used) WOULDNT THIS REQUIRER LESS MODIFICATION FABRICATION IN THE LONG RUN MAKING FOR A CHEEPER CONVERSION FOR A DIY OR JUST CHEEPER ?

A small? update...most of us know the RST-V8 project car...also most of us never heard from that Elise car again...sad...

But as I was looking around for a "next" like to own car I came acros something even better the POWERTEC RPA - 2.6-LITRE MACROBLOCK V8 capelble of 360>>380hp more reliable then before!

here are some specifications;

www.powertecengineering.com/v8spec.php

here some soundclips;
www.radicalsportscars.com/news_folder/v8_sheruns/00002.MP3

www.radicalsportscars.com/news_folder/v8_sheruns/00004.MP3

now that would be realy something special in a Elise
Ofcorse I know there are "cheaper" solutions like the audi, duratec or honda engine, but this would be realy special and the more they make the cheaper it could be done me thinks...

Combine that with the POWERTEC PS2 Power Shift see pdf file and of you go
www.powertecengineering.com/paddleshift5789-Ptec%20A4%20v3.pdf

Maybe someone can ask those people what it cost such combination, or if they make a demo in a Lotus Exige/Elise and what that would cost all in...when we do a group buy its cheaperhehe

edit: I just see now they have put 2 Ukra flags in my post, guess somewhere they changed the Lotus pictures (old 2006 online) for 'set-up' flags

I remember the "Esthi" or something that was an Elise with the 2.7l twin turbo engine form the Audi RS4, built in Germany I believe.
that project died, when the dealer/tuner (Brandes & Dschüdow) went bust
Seems my mate has just bought one of these (maybe the only one, or the only one in the country?)

pictures of that one? very rare, but there are a few models, some 'normal' and some wide body with big engine.

I know of a few S1's that had Rover T series engines in them, Some potential due to being turbo'd but no idea who carried out the conversions.

I guess finding a good T series engine may be difficult now though

i'm in the process of putting the wonderful Toyota GR Yaris 1.6 3 pot turbo in my Exige... 300 odd to start and potential for 500 before having to work on the internals
AND it going to be lighter in weight as well

I know of a firm who advertised for Jag V8 in a Lotus Elise mk1/mk2 while also advertising for such with a chevy v8. both longitudinal mounted with longer wheelbase and so on.

No idea if they are still around.

The Jaguar v6 was mounted transverse, depending on size may not require chassis modifications.

lovely S1,
there was long ago also a build of one with the audi R5 cill try out, did that project ever finished?

I love those audi 5 cill, powerfull and a great sound.

there is a video online with a Porsche GT3 driving behind a Donkervoort GTO on track, the Donkey gets past him and they tried to hook on, which they can not, but the sound of that GT3 (camera sound) was not that you say, ooow that sound, although the Donky 5 cill sounded great and 400 or 500 or even more hp is not such problem.

I've a GR yaris as my daily. The Exige as my fun/track gar and have developed it with GT3 bodywork, suspension etc and with Simon McBeaths advice on the aero to as far i can go on the std toyota N/A 190Hp engine
so was looking and researching the options - Honda S/C.. Audi ...Duratec etc and then was checking the Yaris oil and thought
"that's a neat little unit, bet its light"
and we know it is good for 500 on std internals... and not one has yet found the max when really modified, so some discussions with potential co-conspirators, supplier etc
the basic spec is GR Yaris engine, Sadev sequential, Geartonics shift, Svytec ECU and lots of neat goodies
