Driving on the right - advice sought ?
Discussion
Priority to the right still exists in some Scandinavian countries, and with some of the natives being of the "I-will-obey-the-rules-at-all-times-and-so-will-you' culture it can be disconcerting when you've gone past the same junction ten times and people have given way when you encounter the 'IWOTRAATASWY' who just springs out from the right in his battered Volvo.
One source of info I have found is http://driving.drive-alive.co.uk/ but it only covers countries to which they provide holidays so not complete, but reasonably accurate in my experience.
The other thing I would add is that its helpful to find out as much information as you can. Otherwise you drift around in a world of yor own, not having any accidents (hopefully), causing thousands but not actually having any.
Imagine being a stranger to Britain, you've not read the Highway Code, why would you, you're a native of wherever. Then you get a fleeting glance of that sign explaining the complicated NSL limit per road and vehicle class that you pass on the exit from the ferry port. How many other rules / regs / custom / practices would just whizz over your head?
I think its amazing that so few people get into serious trouble tbh.
The other thing I'd council against is underestimating how tiring it is at first. Once you've built up some experience you can cover outstanding distances in a day, but at first it's knackering tbh.
