I wondered does anyone have a wheel I could borrow for a short time to degree in a cam on the Rover V8.
If not a uk link would be good for where to purchase for sensible money.

Simple enough to make .Print off degree wheel from internet, stick to metal plate use a piece of wire for pointer.
Job done.

May I ask how you will use it? I still can’t figure out if this timing process was absolutely necessary for my MC1 cam install...the guide on V8D site demonstrates the process on a headless block and I can understand that when you buld an engine it is necessary to do the timing but on a vorking engine I am not sure why would it be needed? Key ways on both shafts leave no choice for different positions, right? I am confused...

Some cams (maybe older times more than now) are not ground on new blanks, they are regrinds on an existing profile, so the new profile peak may not align exactly with the old, so would need bespoke timing in. Also you can bias the torque curve by advancing or retarding the cam timing, admittedly some engines react more strongly to this than others, and really you'd want to look at the best power blend for yourself on an engine dyno, but there is lots of info around for cam timing on common engines for commonly used cams.
Just because you can line the dots up on the gear wheels doesn't mean it's correct / best.

Some cam gears are fully adjustable with lock bolts once adjusted.
Other aftermarket cam gears have 3 or more timing keyways/marks so you can choose which gives you the closest to your desired timing.

Aren’t those three position can sprockets reversible so you have six positions?

None of the ones I have used were reversible but that is not to say they don't exist. I have used 6 position cam gears though.
