Im not a very good model builder but I used to paint allot of model car bodies when I was younger.
I started out airbrushing my own cars, then for friends, then charging a small amount for people I knew.
In the beginning I was painting one a week, but I quickly realised that there was a market out there and nobody else was doing it.

The problem was that the time it took to do a good job meant that I wasn't earning very much per hour. I had plenty of work to do, but doing so much quickly took the fun out of it.

So to try and reduce the hours and increase my hourly rate I put the prices up.. and then put them up a few more times.

Eventually I was charging allot of money for a small number of shells.
This meant that I could spent much more time per shell and I could keep the quality very high.

In the end I gave it up as I was bored of it and I was getting paid more during the week.

If there is a market out there and he is good enough then I think you could make it worthwhile for beer money but you need to find people who are willing to pay for quality... and provide it!
