Renault make stylish cars and the sportier Meganes are the rave but the dealers are a nightmare which is why I've stayed away.

Yes I know it's not Renault but I really can't be arsed to try to find it on their (or one of the dealers) website.
OP, believe me your Renault was perfect ... because they are supposed to be as bad as that!
That's my conclusion anyway, now that I'm maintaining a Clio for a family member.
Renaults do look good cosmetically (to me) inside and out, but that's where they've spent the money, cosmetics, gimmicks and dynamics.
Not so good on ergonomics, economics and mechanics - everything I touch seems fragile. We have indeed had our fair share of problems.
I can only guess that people who routinely buy these things haven't had anything else, and they must think all cars are as bad as that. Personal opinions of course ....
