Hi, I’m new on here and about to receive delivery for my 2011 Peugeot RCZ 1.6 156hp petrol. I was hoping someone would be able to clarify what fuel is best as there are mixed opinions online regarding normal or higher octane petrol for this car, thanks.

I don't know for that car specifically, but higher octane (i.e. Shell Optimax or BP Ultimate) is only ever a good thing for any car, the key is whether you get any benefit for the extra cost. Typically on more performance oriented engines it is not only desirable but can give another couple of miles per gallon so offsetting the cost as well as being good for the car. Personally we (me and partner) only run our modern cars on higher octane, including her weekend Mini 1.6.

I'd recommend running 99 on the performance stuff. It should say in the handbook or on the inside of the fuel filler cap. Mine says 95 min but it runs so much better on 99. I go for Tesco Momentum, as it's pretty much as good as Shell V Power, but a fair bit cheaper.

All petrol RCZ's, including the R are mapped to run on 95 RON as standard, hope that answers your question.

Thank you all for your advice, I found this on the online user manual. I’ve also read online that the premium fuel appeared to help remove a warning light on the dashboard. Should have the car deliver this weekend after RAC inspection is complete.
